Apple was able to sneak an interesting little feature into the latest build of the OS X Lion beta: Restart to Safari.

The option boots the computer into just the web browser. The user has no ability to access any other applications of features of the computer or operating system. While the restart to browser mode does resemble Google's ultra-lightweight Chrome OS operating system, the motivation ...

Behind The Code is back and ready to rock. ModMyi has had the honor of talking with the following people:

    Luke (@qwertyoruiop)
    Elias Limneos (@limneos)
    Christian Heusinger (@iRealSMS)
    Grant Paul (@chpwn)

Let us continue this streak with another prominent developer and hacker: Dan Zimmerman (@DanZimm).

Creator of Vibrafications, Circuitous, and others, Dan was gracious to speak with ModMyi and I'm excited to bring him your story. Set tight and let's go right into the world of Dan Zimmerman.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

JOSH: Tell us a little about yourself. Your age, location, and education (if applicable).
DAN: First off, I'm 17 years old and live in a suburb out of Chicago. I like playing my guitar, riding my BMX bike, and I'm just a pretty normal teen. I'm currently in high school I LOVE math.

JOSH: How'd you first get involved in the jailbreak community? How long have you been a part of it?
DAN: I have been slightly apart of the community since 1.1.4 on the iPod Touch 1. I jailbroke my first device with ziphone and I thought it was pretty cool. At the time, I wasn't a developer and was pretty ignorant to the whole developing aspect. I drifted away from the jailbreak community when 2.0 came out and went into the app world. I had an pp review site called Zym Blog but it ...

Wednesday could be a big day. If the rumors and inside reports we're hearing are accurate, this week Apple will either see the launch of a refreshed product or the roll out for this year's annual "Back to School" promotion. Of course, both could ultimately be on tap. But the biggest buzz seems to be coming from chatter about a new product release.

As we reported Friday, the next generation ...

This Friday, AT&T filed a statement to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) saying that competition will continue to be vibrant even after its merger with T-Mobile USA. Included in the statement was their response to Sprint opposing their $39 billion deal and the answers to the questions AT&T was requested to answer for the FCC last month.

In the statement, AT&T focused on a few key aspects ...

As widely anticipated, consistent reports are corroborating what is quickly becoming the world kept secret in iDevice-land. The next-generation iPhone (the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5) will be a hybrid of sorts. That is, it will be a "global model" capable of working with either GSM or CDMA networks.

The latest clues of this strong possibility come to us this weekend via Japanese site MacOtakara, which reported ...

There is very little that captures the imagination of youth more so than magic. Being dazzled by a charismatic magician brings joy to those young enough to not understand the performers deception. Even as we grow older and understand what we saw as a child wasn't real "magic" but, rather well choreographed illusions, the fascination is still there.

Heck, Fox even dedicated an entire television ...

Annoying thing 3,401 about flying: being asked to turn off your cell phone.

I know I've scoffed to myself at the notion of turning off my cell phone more than once. How could my tiny insignificant piece of hardware possibly have a catastrophic effect on such a large and complex piece of aeronautical machinery?

A recent study by the International Air Transport Association makes the argument it might be worth missing those ...

With the ability for widgets in iOS 5, there has been a lot of buzz to whether developers will be able to create custom widgets and market them for the iOS software. Regardless of whether Apple restricts this capability from stock iOS, the jailbreak community has stepped it up a notch. The first widget for the Notifications Center, UISettings, is currently in alpha and on Cydia via an alternate repo.

It happens every time Apple announces a new service, or product without fail. A company, already holding or using the name of a newly announced service by Apple, sues the big piece of fruit for copyright or trademark infringement.

Apple then uses its mountain of money to make the complaints of the small company go away. Well it finally happened with iCoud. A company called iCloud Communications is suing Apple. Here's an excerpt from ...

On Tuesday, MMi covered the rare appearance made by Apple chief Steve Jobs before the City Council of Cupertino, California - the location where Apple already headquarters its massive tech outfit. Jobs turned up to pitch a new Apple campus, which - beyond its spaceship-like design - will relocate 12,000 of the company's employees and unite much of the entire West Coast Apple family beneath one centralized ...
