Apple Insider uncovered an interesting patent filed by Apple entitled “Speaker Clip” that outlines a wearable clip-on iPod similar to the current iPod Nano or shuffle that has an integrated speaker built into the clip.

The patent, published last week, makes no specific mention of the iPod nano or the iPod shuffle and doesn’t even include the iPod brand name anywhere in the patent. However, the devices ...

Let's face it, mobile screens are small; small screens have few pixels and they should be conserved.

The beloved developer, Yllier, has another tweak up his sleeve! This one is called FullScreen for Safari and it has been fully updated to work with iOS 5. Essentially, FullScreen for Safari is self explanatory in that it allows you to use Safari in full screen. But that's not all it does, it even goes a step further and lets you use gestures to navigate through Web Pages! So this little tweak is like Mac OS X Lion Safari in your pocket. FullScreen for Safari does not just automatically work; ...

Less than one month since iOS 5 was released to the masses, today Apple issued its first incremental update for the new iOS.

On Thursday, Apple released iOS 5.0.1 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. What we know for certain is that this hotly anticipated update takes aim at a lingering bug that first became apparent as the iPhone 4S reached consumers last month.

    All ...

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams recently announced the nomination of Steve Jobs to be Time magazine’s Person of the Year. If selected, Jobs would become the first person to receive the award after death.

Williams was the one to lead the annual panel debate in New York, along with Rich Stengel (Time’s Managing Editor). Stengel noted that the publication has “never actually chosen a dead person” as Person of the Year. Other panelists ...

Ron Johnson, who recently retired as Apple’s senior vice president of retail operations is attempting to assemble a team of former Apple executives to reinvent the U.S. retailer JC Penney (where he now serves as chief executive). Johnson started working at Apple in January 2000 (coming from Target previously) and is credited with leading the construction of Apple’s global retail chain, including its innovative features ...

Reports are indicating that AT&T continues to be the dominant iPhone carrier in the US even after Verizon entered the market grabbing 40% of the users in half the time. Furthermore, it was expected that Sprint would steal a large portion of the market after it hopped on the iPhone bandwagon with the release of the iPhone 4S (with its unlimited data plan). This apparently isn’t the case though, as Sprint currently ...

According to new estimates for the U.S. portable game software revenue by Flurry Analytics, 2011 has seen Nintendo’s grip on the market dip further with Android and iOS games tripling their market share from 20% in 2009 to a whopping 60% in 2011. It seems that Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata was correct when he declared Apple and iOS as the “enemy of the future” for his company back in 2010.

    The data shows ...

AdBlockPlus is a very well-known and popular add-on for the Firefox Web Browser. It blocks all kinds of annoying ads that plague your Web browsing experience. But what if I told you that there was an iOS version? Well.. you'd probably say, "well yeah, there's been one for a long time." Okay, you're right. There have been numerous AdBlockPlus copycats for iOS. But one of them for sure stands out, and it's the one that works fully and absolutely with iOS 5! Earlier this year T-Mobile announced they would be shifting all Smartphone users to a Pay-Per-Use data payment plan whether they wanted to or not. They would notify users by email or their September bill. The “feature” cannot be disabled through the device or via My T-Mobile.

Infuriating yes. Legal probably. Still going on? Sadly, yes.

MMi reader Eric Willden recently fell victim to T-Mobile’s underhanded tactics. Three of the five smartphones associated with Willden’s T-Mobile ...

The folks over at CNET have obtained an internal document which details training Apple has given retail managers on how to respond to employees who unionize. The training is likely to have already taken place and apparently is mandatory for all new Apple Store managers. According to the description of the training, the “course is intended to provide managers with a practical understanding ...

Ever wish that you could have more control over the brightness settings of your screen?

Sometimes the stock brightness settings just don't cut it. They're always hidden somewhere, whether it takes digging through your Settings app or digging through SBSettings to get to it. It's just never convenient. Siri won't want anything to do with changing your screen brightness either – so don't ask, you might offend her. So when you want convenient screen brightness settings, what do you do?

Instead of going into your settings and manually setting your brightness, developers Yllier and Kim Streich came up with a brilliant idea. How about putting a setting in your iPhone ...

Take an outgoing firewall on the go with this amazing jailbreak package!

Firewall IP is a tweak made by Yllier that let's you carry around what acts like a mobile version of LittleSnitch on your iOS device. It's not new; but it has been updated to work with iOS 5! It can be used for numerous things. One idea that I thought about is that since it blocks outgoing access at your leisure, you can actually save yourself 3G data by only allowing the processes that you want to call out, call out. This tweak brings up numerous features that are as powerful as a full-blown desktop firewall, at the same time, it's lightweight and has just about no impact on battery life whatsoever.

When an app you are using attempts ...
