    With RedSn0w 0.7.2 iPod Touch 1g and 2g users can jailbreak 3.0 firmware on Windows. Before following this guide please restore your iPod Touch to 3.0 firmware. To get the 3.0 firmware you have to connect to iTunes, check for updates, and buy it for about $10. Yes Apple is screwing you. Positive side is that if you have both a 1g and a 2g you get to download firmware for both for $10.

    You will need RedSn0w 0.7.2 which you can download right here along with the 3.0 firmware file for your device. Since you already bought and downloaded the firmware in order to upgrade to 3.0 you can find it one your computer

    Found new features in the iPhone 3G S! There is an Accessibility option in general settings that does some real cool stuff. Big props to MMi user jonban for leaving me a visitor message tipping us off!

    White on Black

    My personal favorite. Throwing the White on Black toggle inverts the colors phone-wide. Gives your iPhone a psychedelic look everywhere, including apps. This will have to do while we're waiting for the iPhone 3G S to be jailbroken so we can do some themeing.

    This guide will teach you how to jailbreak AND unlock your iPhone 2G running 3.0 firmware using RedSn0w on Windows.

    I strongly recommend you backup and restore your iPhone 2G to 3.0 firmware via iTunes BEFORE you begin this guide. By strongly recommend I mean restore to 3.0 firmware.

    You will need RedSn0w 0.7.2 which you can download here along with the iPhone 2G 3.0 firmware file available for download here. You also need the 3.9 and 4.6 bootloader files. Download 3.9 here and 4.6 here.

    Once you have downloaded everything, extract redsn0w-win_0.7.2.zip to a location on your computer. You should see redsn0w.exe. Run it.

    Click Browse.

    This guide shows you how to jailbreak your iPod Touch (1G or 2G) using the DevTeam's redsn0w tool.

    First you'll need to do two things:
    1. Backup and Restore your iPod Touch. Just connect to iTunes and sync. If you have any Cydia apps from a previous firmware, they will be deleted when we restore. Here's a few places you may want to back up manually if you're worried about it... I didn't.

    How to Jailbreak/Unlock/Activate iPhone 2G on 3.0 Firmware - PwnageTool

    This guide will show you how to jailbreak,unlock, and activate firmware 3.0 on the iPhone 2G (not the iPhone 3G, not the iPhone 3G S) all at once using a custom .ispw created with PwnageTool 3.0.

    You need to download PwnageTool 3.0 and the iPhone 2G 3.0 firmware file.

    Note: Safari does not download the .ipsw files correctly - it decompresses them as soon as they're downloaded. We don't want that. Use Firefox to download the .ipsw, not Safari. Or you can ctrl+click the decompressed folder & click the compress button.

    Connect your iPhone 2G to iTunes and sync it (you will want that back up later)



    Note: restoring will remove all Jailbreak app settings and WinterBoard themes. You can back that all up following this guide if you want to.

    Once you have downloaded the firmware file and PwnageTool run PwnageTool. OS X my ask you if you really want to run it, choose open.

    You can now Jailbreak firmware 3.0 thanks to the Dev Team's hard work on PwnageTool 3.0.

    Some notes:
    • UltraSn0w is not out yet. If you have an iPhone 3g that NEEDS to be unlocked for you to use it wait until UltraSn0w is released (we will post when that happens) before upgrading to 3.0 and Jailbreaking.
    • iPhone 3g owners that don't need to be unlocked feel free to upgrade and jailbreak.

    We're standing here in line at the Tampa International Plaza Apple Store. The time is 6:30AM, and you can see from the images below there's already over 50 people in line - so much for 6AM being early. There's no WiFi available out here in the parking lot, so good ol' PdaNet is my strength when the net is weak.

    Just hours away here in North America from the iPhone 3G S! If you wanted one, you should have pre-ordered it last week. For those of you that didn't we have some advice:

    AT&T stores will be open to the pre-orderers only between 7 am and 9 am. If you didn't pre-order you'll need to be inline early in the morning, 5-6 am in many areas, to have a shot of grabbing an iPhone 3G S. We don't expect AT&T stores to have large quantities on hand. ...

    These crazy guys in France got their iPhone 3G S right away in order to . . . . disassemble it. I'm not planning on doing this when I get mine. They did, however, confirm some hardware specs while they were at it.
