A Consumer Reports survey of wireless users in the US (subscription required) ranked AT&T dead last among major carriers in terms of quality. Most of the 50,000 people surveyed in 26 cities gave AT&T low ratings in such categories as service availability, circuit capacity, dropped-call frequency, and voice service. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Verizon Wireless - which has been hammering AT&T in its "there's a map ...

I just noticed an update to the RockApp and after installing, and rebooting, I was prompted by RockApp with a note that told me my SSH Password was still at the default of 'alpine' and that I should change my password immediately. (I just restored recently and had not done this yet)

After accepting the pop-up, I was able to enter in a new password. I was then informed that the password had been successfully changed.

Fring is a VoIP and chat client for your mobile phone. The service works with a handful of various networks, including Skype, AIM, MSN Messenger and Twitter. You can even make calls to landlines from your SkypeOut and SkypeIn account and place voice calls to your Skype and Fring address book.

Today, Fring is taking its iPhone app to the next level by bringing support for video chat. Nokia added this feature to some of its devices last week, and the new version of Fring is now in the app store. Fring is free and you can grab it here (iTunes link). That means the iPhone/iPod Touch can now accept incoming Skype Video Calls! This can lead to a bunch of ways to monitor something as well.

I wont lie, I've never really used Fring. I've fired it up once or twice before, but with this update I am very tempted to try it out again. The only problem with this is the iPhone doesn’t have a camera on the front, making ...

An industry analyst credits the iPhone's continued hot sales for buoying Apple's computer business at a time when other PC makers are barely holding their own in the tough economy. Calling it the "iPhone Halo Effect," Needham & Co. analyst Charlie Wolf says the popularity of the iPhone encourages consumers to switch to the Mac. They are doing so in droves: Mac sales worldwide grew 16.4% as compared to the same period last year, while the rest of the PC market grew ...

mame4iphone is back with vengeance, and is now available for iPhone/iPod Touch firmware 3.0. It is available for download for free on Cydia and also available for Rock users.

What else is new in this release you ask? Well for starters you should notice some performance improvements over the previous version, which is no surprise considering the plethora of changes to firmware 3.0 as well. The emulator has also been updated to MAME4All v2.4. There are specific user interface changes as well that allow for the entire romset to be loaded, as well as some bugs with screen orientation and scaling.

With Apple's enormous power and size, it isn't difficult to imagine the many ways in which the company is capable of exerting massive influence wherever it places its high beams. Naturally, such influence leaves Apple vulnerable to the occasional criticism of market manipulation.

Case in point. This week Apple is facing claims that it is "manipulating flash memory prices" through the duplicitous act of placing huge orders and then ultimately ...
