One of the main reasons many jailbreakers haven't upgraded to iPhone OS 3.1.2 has been because it killed the IPCC tethering hacks that had been out there since 3.1 had disabled the previous hacks. There have been a number of hacks to workaround the 3.1.2 changes, but they required tinkering that was a bit challenging for many casual users. Now, the iPhone Dev Team has reintroduced tethering to redsn0w ...

It appears that Apple has released iTunes 9.0.3, an update which corrects some minor bugs. Although I can't say that I have ever run into any syncing problems, apparently this update fixes various problems with Smart Playlists.

One bug however that does come with a warm welcome is the "Remember Password" fix. If you haven't noticed, the previous version would not remember your selection if you chose to ...

Like swaddling a fussy baby awaiting its next feeding, Apple is continuing to ramp up efforts to pacify developers eager to monitor the progress of the application approval process. Building on the clocks, status bars, and other upgrades to the ways in which Apple communicates with developers, Cupertino is tinkering with yet another improvement to help keep developers in the loop.

Recently, Apple made it possible for developers to monitor ...

Since the 27-inch iMac was released last fall, it's been plagued with a number of hardware problems, such as inability to power up, cracked LCD screens, flickering video and yellowish displays. The company has steadfastly refused to acknowledge any issue, instead replacing computers for customers. For the first time, however, an internal tech support document has been uncovered that shows it is aware of the problem, and offering a refund ...

Well, that didn't take too long now did it?

Citrix has put the wheels in motion on launching client software enabling iPad users to connect to Citrix servers and run virtual Windows 7 sessions. This will probably reach the marketplace to coincide with the iPad's formal release in late March.

MacinBusiness today covered the iPad as a thin client:

While we haven't even scratched the surface of how the ...

Shanzhai (山寨) is a Chinese term that is used to described clone reproductions of popular cell phones. It's a huge business in China, with hundreds of millions of fake phones produced every year for the enormous Chinese market. Last year, one of the big shanzhai players came out with what was termed a "preemptive clone" of the iPad, before the device had even been announced. Now, that manufacturer is threatening to "report" or even sue Apple... for copying their design.

Shanzai.com featured this device back in October. Called the P88, it's based on an Intel 945GSE chipset - likely running an Atom CPU - and features ...

First you see it. Now you don't.

Apple has effectively pulled the plug on promotional iPad content from the Apple website, which had previously alluded to Adobe Flash content.

The Adobe Flash fiasco comes after Steve Jobs "inadvertently navigated to a page with Flash content" during the iPad's big reveal and live demonstration last week. The entire situation, of course, drew ire from some, particularly Adrian Ludwig, Flash Marketing ...

As reports trickle out from Steve Jobs's closed-door "town hall" meeting with Apple employees about the company's future plans, one thing is clear: Jobs has lost none of the fire that has made him one of the most colorful figures in US business. In the gathering, convened to discuss the iPad and other upcoming moves for Apple, Jobs excoriated Adobe Systems as "lazy" for sticking with Flash, which he derided as "buggy," ...
