The download limit for iPhone applications installed via the phone's 3G connection has been increased to 20MB, according to numerous user reports. Up to this point, any time a user tried to download over 10MB, they received a message directing them to connect to a Wi-Fi network or use iTunes on their computer. The increased cap appears to be for apps as well as media downloaded from the iTunes Store. Coming just ahead of the ...

News earlier this week that Google had acquired reMail- the startup that had developed an app to quickly search all your email from your iPhone - was taken in stride. After all, the search giant has been on an "acqu-hiring" spree for a long time, buying up companies and bringing in top talent. However, it raised some eyebrows when the owner - now a Google employee - pulled reMail from the App Store. Observers ...

It's no secret that Apple plays things pretty close to the chest. They don't like divulging "secrets" and we know the drill. It's a situation taken somewhat seriously here in the United States. In China, however, guarding Apple secrets is apparently much more serious and potentially dangerous business - particularly for reporters looking for a story.

I'm alluding to the fact that a Reuters ...

Earlier this month, the world learned that a stronghold of twenty-four global carriers will try to "play nice" with one another and build a huge, open marketplace for mobile apps as an ostensible effort to compete with the App Store.

Although it doesn't overtly appear that Apple is suddenly rushing to dig into as many territories around the world as possible before the App Store gets some new competition ...

This week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, an old but still familiar (if not largely irrelevant) name in the smartphone business resurfaced. Regaining some attention in an industry that has largely moved beyond the abilities of the flailing cell phone manufacturer, Sony Ericsson made a pledge that turned some heads. It seems the company is aiming to give US consumers "want they want."

After first being dangled in front of us almost a year ago, mobile IM fanatics are going nuts over the arrival of Meebo's long awaited iPhone app, which is finally available for download.

While it's much too premature to assess whether the app will live up to the yearlong hype, early reports by users hail the application as a nice alternative to competing services that, for the great price of nothing, ...

There is nothing better than some competition between companies! The Wallstreet Journal reports companies such as Sony, Dell, and Acer are reportedly all developing iPad competitors in one form or another. However HP is looking at undercutting the iPad on pricing as a significant component to that strategy.

Even though HP's Slate was ...

Could millions of iPods around the world catch a breather for, let's say, the next forty days or so?

Believe or not, there is a movement underway that could actually inspire many around the world to include their iPods on the list of items to sacrifice during Lent, a religious season of sacrifice known as Advent that begins with the observance of Ash Wednesday - which is today.

According to the UK's Telegraph ...

If you bought a MacBook in the eighteen month period between May 2006 and December 2007, you may be covered by Apple's new MacBook repair extension program - that is, if your machine is experiencing hard drive issues.

This week Apple has pleased many MacBook owners with the announcement of this "repair extension" for owners of the 13" notebook models.

Today, Apple finally approved the 3G-streaming capable version of the popular TV-streaming iPhone application, SlingPlayer [iTunes link]. As most of us know, Sling, Apple, and AT&T and previously tussled over the concept of streaming live TV over AT&T's 3G bands, as they had suspected that it would place to much strain on the network, ...

According to unconfirmed reports from inside AT&T, the carrier is planning to sell Apple iPads directly in its corporate retail stores - and will also give the new device significant floor space. A tipster from AT&T told Boy Genius Report that most stores will take out one or more of their existing netbook demo spaces in favor of what is being called a "pretty substantial" iPad ...
