The Adobe/Apple wars have made it impossible for iPhone OS users to run Flash content on their devices. Regardless of what one may think about the platform - it's buggy, runs slow, uses up battery life quickly, etc. etc. - the fact remains that there is a lot of content out there that simply cannot be ...

It may resemble the iPad from a distance, but upon closer inspection you will learn that this tablet computer isn't an Apple product at all. In fact, it's an "alternative" to Apple's revolutionary iPad - at least that's what Netbook PC pioneer Asustek is claiming today. On Monday, while millions of Americans are enjoying their iPads on the Memorial Day holiday - Asustek wants to give the ...

Less than two full months after its official consumer release, Apple is now proclaiming - and with just a bit of obvious pride in the announcement - that the Cupertino-based tech giant has sold a whopping two million iPads to date. At two million units sold in two months, Apple is clearly on pace to hit industry analysts' expectations of approximately five million tablet sales by the end ...

Amazon is preparing an updated Kindle that will roll out in August. But unlike earlier speculation that suggested Amazon would aim to compete with the iPad by releasing an upgraded product that delivers a more dynamic platform, it now appears that the Kindle isn't yet ready to compete as aggressively with the iPad as previously thought.

Later this summer, Amazon will introduce a new and ...

In recent weeks on MMi, we've covered the unfortunate rash of suicides that have plagued a Shenzhen factory of iPhone manufacturer Foxconn. So far in 2010, at least ten individuals have died at the manufacturing complex referenced. As a a result of those deaths - half of which occurred this month - there have been multiple inquiries about working conditions at the factory as well as substandard wages ...

The US Department of Justice's probe into Apple's business practices is expanding beyond how the company deals with record companies, according to a report in the New York Post picked up by Boy Genius Report today. Several sources quoted by the NYC tabloid claim that the Justice Department has contacted other big media and technology companies to ask about Apple's way of doing business. The ...

The fourth-generation iPhone continues its world tour, apparently now showing up in the Czech Republic before it's even been released. Some savvy Czech bloggers at SuperiPhone.cz (cached copy - site is down) somehow got their hands on some iPhone screen components and put them under a microscope to find out the next iPhone's screen resolution. The result tie with what has been widely rumored ...

It seems like forever since Apple/AT&T (whomever actually has control over that) started allowing VOIP over 3G back in October of last year and for the past 8 months Skype has failed to update their app to allow 3G voice calling. Until today.

Skype has released version 2.0 of its iPhone app (itunes link) and it makes calls over 3G. What's more, they sound great, as good as normal ...

Update: Netflix/Apple/Whomever doesn't appear to like that Netflix was running on the iPhone and it has been disabled.

We just received a tip from one of our readers going by the name Knisitruck who has successfully gotten Netflix to run on his iPhone 3G. Basically he copied the iPad Netflix app and iPad mediaplayer frameworks to his iPhone, made a few plist edits and changes and got it running!

    Maybe not ...

We just published a story about AT&T's upcoming iPhone insurance program, called MobileProtect, and offered through Asurion.

One of our AT&T ninjas has sent us the official AT&T document (above) sent out to reps for the program, which will launch June 6th as we covered in the previous story.

AT&T is also apparently telling customers for more information ...

So let's say, for example, you want to take in a ballgame at Yankee Stadium in New York - a facility that banned the use of iPads (as covered on MMi). Perhaps with Tobias Wong and Chelsea Briganti's new camouflaged iPad case, you won't get tossed out of the ballpark for breaking the rules. With this new - and admittedly most peculiar of iPad cases - you can enjoy your favorite tablet computer without some ...

These days it's possible to insure just about anything. So it probably makes sense that the iPhone now joins the long list of insurable objects that, for a fee, can be "protected" with a comprehensive insurance policy. In case you're wondering, no, this program isn't a little known weird provision of healthcare reform. Instead, AT&T is behind the new insurance plan for iPhones aptly dubbed "Mobile Protect." ...
