Shortly after the iPhone 5 hit store shelves across the United States on Friday, it was discovered that the CDMA Verizon version of the device can be used on AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks with a simple GSM micro SIM card medication. According to the folks over at iDownloadBlog, they were able to trim down and install a micro SIM card into the new Verizon iPhone 5, which was purchased under ...

If you love custom animations, then you’re going to enjoy this new jailbreak tweak called AquaBoard - Water Effects by iOS developer Elias Limneos. AquaBoard will add a realistic-looking liquid animation to the lock screen (plugged in or not) and the home screen. It is very cool and comes with some customization options to make it even cooler.

When you install the tweak, you will see immediately what the tweak does; it responds to your touch. You can tap, swipe, or twirl your finger in ...

With the excitement over the launch of the iPhone 5 and a “large, captive audience for upgrades” analyst Chris Whitmore of Deutsche bank increased his price target for Apple stock to $850. In a recent note to investors on Friday, Whitmore said the demand for the iPhone 5 is “extremely robust” and combined with a faster launch internationally should bode well for Apple.

He believes Apple could sell ...

The iPhone 5 is no slouch when it comes to gaming. At the iPhone 5 keynote event, Apple let some application developers demonstrate their creations for the iPhone 5 on the big screen for the audience. One of the developers was a popular gaming firm and they had shown a great new racing game that touted “console quality graphics” in the palm of your hand.

We know that the iPhone 5 comes with a new A6 ...

The iPhone 5 just launched publicly today after having been pre-ordered to death over the past week. Not even 12 hours past the official launch, iOS hacker and developer Grant Paul (chpwn) has managed to jailbreak an iPhone 5. Even more awesome is that the iPhone 5 runs iOS 6, which is Apple’s latest mobile operating system.

The screenshot above was Tweeted on Twitter by chpwn this evening and it shows Cydia at the bottom of the home ...

The iPhone is not only high in demand among consumers, it's also hotly sought-after by criminals who presumably realize the top dollar this device can draw on the black market.

The iPhone 5 has only been un-boxed for a matter of hours, but iPhone 5-related crimes have already been reported on three continents. From the UK to the US and even in Japan, a rash of crimes has been reported with no clear ...

A few million people got an iPhone 5 this morning.

We're betting some of you are looking to unlock it - whether for resale value down the road, or to use a foreign SIM in the iPhone already (good luck though - your carrier will need a compatible nano-SIM).

There's an abundance of sites offering unlocks. Some are legit, some are scams. We have used various ones in the past, and thought we'd share a couple we recommend now since iPhone 5 support has just been added (note - these services unlock other iPhones as well - 3G, 3G[S], 4, 4S).

Neither of these services require a ...

According to a quickly-produced survey from Piper Jaffray analyst and resident Apple watcher Gene Munster, lines outside of Apple stores on the day of the iPhone 5 launch are about 83% longer than the lines observed at the launch of Apple's iPhone 4S.

Of course, such lines are to be anticipated in response to Monday's news that Apple sold two million iPhone 5s last weekend. That was twice ...

With the iPhone 5 now reaching customers on the first day of availability, the New York Police Department has a large presence today at Apple's retail locations in New York for the purpose of helping new iPhone 5 owners register their freshly-purchased device.

The goal, naturally, is to help cut down on iPhone 5 theft. Dubbed the "Anti-Apple Picking Campaign," the NYPD is enthusiastically backing this free service ...

There are lots of custom iPhone companies (you know - glowing light mods, wooden backs, crazy colors) out there, but iFixDirect has been our favorite for a while. We chatted with Mike from iFixDirect recently, and he sent us some examples of the custom work they're doing. It's good stuff!

We've checked out some of their work (like their iPhone color kits) in the past, and thought we'd highlight some of their custom mods.

NOTE: While we checked out their iPhone 4S mods, they've got a great selection of stuff ready for iPhone 5 as well!

With the iPhone 5 launching in nine countries today, Apple has begun sending notes out to developers, requiring the app makers supply screenshots compatible with the new smartphone’s taller 4-inch display when submitting software updates. The information was obtained by RazorianFly via an iTunes Connect notice, which broke down the new image size requirements.

The notice even went as far as warning that ...
