A few months back, Apple made a plea to the Copyright Office to make jailbreaking illegal. The EFF called their reasoning "absurd" and "FUD." It's still sitting before them to make a decision.

Apparently, Apple feels they are in a losing battle and are now throwing out some pretty far-fetched reasons to the Copyright Office in order to back up their case. For one, they say jailbreaking could let users alter the Exclusive Chip Identification ...

Maybe you've seen GV Mobile was tossed out of the AppStore. Apple's "hey, we have apps that do that too... you can't be in here!" attitude is well documented (remember Podcaster? which wound up on Cydia in the MMi repo as well?), and once again a great app has been pushed out of folks' hands so Apple can minimize the competition.

Well don't you worry, all you folks who still wanted the app - we've got it up in Cydia now and you can ...

Will the iPhone ever make it to China? According to Tech.QQ the answer is yes, by the end of September 2009 via China Unicom.

In another excellent case of "what the frak", Apple has pulled both GV Mobile and VoiceCentral, two applications that add Google Voice support to the phone. Google Voice is one of Google's latest services that provides a sort of virtual switchboard in which you can subscribe all your phones. By calling your GV phone number, all your phones would ring ...

    UPDATE: It's out.

Remember MxTube? MxTube is officially extinct. Another victim of survival the fittest. YourTube will be available via CydiaStore sometime in the Very Near Future IS NOW AVAILABLE in the Cydia Store, and my goodness is it brilliant. We got ahold of an early tester version, and it's everything a YouTube downloader should be.

For starters, it's A PART OF YouTube.app. Well, technically it's an extension using MobileSubstrate (saurik's magic doorway to the iPhone for devs), built by pumpkin - point being, it integrates seamlessly with YouTube.app. And it works beautifully...

So here's a true example of some modding his iDevice... check it out. Josh Darrah, a guy in Australia, actually gutted an iPod Mini and created a whole new casing from wood. The iWood.

He's got a whole Flickr gallery up showing the process. The guy even made a dock out of wood which the thing sits in.

    Nice job, Josh.

    Thanks ...

RedLaser, a new app available via Cydia, is very cool. It's a barcode reader for the iPhone - and it works even on the 2G and 3G iPhones, without auto-focus. Reading straight from the camera feed (no need to take a photo, just hold it up to the bar code and wait a second), all 3 models of iPhone can run RedLaser. Oh, and its free... which is a nice price.

The app lets you do online price comparisons using Google's db, and ...

A report published by The Wall Street Journal claims while Apple and RIM together hold only a tiny 3% share of the mobile phone market, they hold a lion's share (35%) of its profits - iPhone alone taking up just 1% market share, and accounting for ~ 20% of the total profit!

    That's a huge ...
