Although it seems like there's already an iPhone app for almost any practical (or impractical) purpose imaginable, the App Store has a penchant for disallowing many proposed apps from reaching the holy grail that is their digital storefront.

As we know, for all the apps that Apple doesn't want us to have, there is Cydia. And even though the existence of Cydia isn't news to us, it was probably news to many this morning ...

Movies.app (by Flixster), my favorite app for checking showtimes, reviews, etc, just got way better. It's 3.0 update pushed to the AppStore Wednesday, and includes a crapload of useful updates, including Netflix integration and the ability to purchase movie tickets straight from the app and pick up at your local theater now.

You can also buy/rent movies from iTunes from the app now.

    Here's the full list ...

According to a report, AppleInsider has confirmed that Apple's event planned for September 9th is going to concentrate heavily on new iPod releases.

First up is the new iPod Touch expected to have a camera and be priced around 16/32/64 GB for $199/299/399. Following the trend of throwing cameras into everything Apple is also expected to announce a new iPod Nano also sporting ...

This isn't even remotely news, but it is an example of one of the most pathetic flame pieces ever published on a "professional" site. If you thought Apple fanboys were bad and you need a good laugh, jump on over to PCWorld and check out the full article by the now infamous Randall C. Kennedy. It's possibly one of the most bitter and ignorant articles I have read in recent memory; on any subject including politics.

    Kennedy's article examined:

    Hey guys!

My name is Michael Essany and I am fortunate to have been brought on board this week as a new writer here at ModMyi.com.

Although I'm sure we'll have plenty of interaction and conversation in the days and weeks ahead, I just wanted to introduce myself and acknowledge how thrilled I am to join this growing community.

    I've been a professional writer and ...

Remember back in '07 when you picked up CS3 for $1700? Well you might want to think twice about a $30 upgrade to Snow Leopard, the latest version of OS X, available this Friday. Adobe has stated when it comes to CS3 and Snow Leopard - you may "experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no resolution."

CS4 is of course guaranteed ...

Twitter user pedro10 has received his pre-order copy of Snow Leopard already (a few days short of Friday's launch date), and confirms it contains build 10A432 - which was previously rumored to be the Gold Master.

Curiously, all the photos he posted, along with the Twitter status detailing this info, are all deleted now. The long arm of Apple? Or did pedro just get tired of ...

French iPhone developers PresseLite have managed to sneak in the first augmented reality app named Metro Paris Subway into the Apple App Store. If you've been out of "the loop" lately augmented reality is the next big thing where computer generated objects are blended into real-world images in real time. In this particular case the Metro Paris Subway app blends in info about things around the subway when ...

It appears the Snow Leopard due this Friday could come complete with a Virus/Malware scanner built in. There are zero details about how this works but The Mac Security Blog reports that the screen shot above is Snow Leopard detecting the RSPlug Trojan horse downloaded via Safari. Maybe this is Apple's response to the trojan that was packaged with some iWork '09 downloads back in January.

Just released, the brilliant BookArc turns your Macbook or Macbook Pro (all models from the Macbook Air to the 17" Macbook Pro) into a swift looking desktop -- well, it stands it up in a neat artsy fashion on your desk at least.

Priced at $49 this accessory is a very simple idea which surprisingly no one has managed to think of before. All it does is provides a nice resting place for your ...

No, it isn't an app dedicated to rebellious gymnasts or role playing. Stick It (app store link on sale for $0.99) is simply a nifty way to write sticky notes on your iPhone brought to us by our friends at Tap Factory Apps. Apple had a great idea with their Notes app, and since the original iPhone my life has become free from little scraps of paper floating every which way and consistently getting lost. The problem: Notes is dull and boring.

Stick It is a more interesting way to do the same ...

Noticed this DIY iPhone dock while trolling around on Flickr earlier; it's a bit old, but i couldn't pass this one up.

Apple included an iPhone dock with the first release of the iPhone but has since removed the dock as a prepackaged accessory. The dock, a little bit of plastic with some little connection bits costs a ridiculous $49 via the Apple Store. That price was just ...
