Owners of new WiFi + 3G iPads are noticing that apps are displaying significantly downsampled video or none at all over 3G data connections. Users have found much poorer video quality on the YouTube app and that ABC's TV viewer completely blocks video when it doesn't detect a WiFi connection. AT&T is so far referring all questions to Apple, and Apple is silent.

    AT&T has been ...

The team at iFixit has conducted a tear-down of Apple's iPad 3G. And, while few surprises were uncovered, the iFixit tear down has the tech blogosphere buzzing about the tablet's innards and all that comprises the iPad 3G.

    Some of the highlights include:

    • The iPad 3G is almost impossible to tell apart from its Wi-Fi-only counterpart. A black plastic RF window is the only differentiating physical attribute.

Microsoft - at least in comparison to Apple - has a veritable romance underway with Adobe. But that hasn't stopped Microsoft from flirting with other, more Apple-friendly technologies. Case in point: Microsoft has dibs on H.264-based HTML5 for the all-important web video content market.

In recent days, we've all witnessed Apple's relationship with Adobe deteriorate into a vitriolic war of wars between two former ...

A brief update on the Dev-Team Blog noted that MuscleNerd was able to jailbreak his iPad WiFi + 3G within minutes of getting it out of the box, including a video showing how easily the new model fell to the userland jailbreak.

No firm release date has been set, but there's no time like the present to go about backing up your blobs: cache it on saurik's server, or ...

    What's that saying?

"All good things must come to an end"?

As if Apple needed another reason for people to dislike them after the recent Gizmodo fiasco, it appears the saying reigns true with Apple's recent acquisition, the Lala.com music service.

Lala will be coming to an unexpected end on May ...

Apple's renowned for its minimal industrial design, and the company's influence has led to the simplification of computing as we've come to know it. The corporation that helped kill the floppy disk and did away with the second mouse clicker has another outmoded form of technology in its sights: the physical button. AppleInsider discovered a patent application this week for invisible buttons ...

The iPad 3Gs are not in stores til this evening, but those who pre-ordered and had them shipped are already receiving the devices. Mine arrived an hour ago or so, and I've been playing around with it a bit since then.

Obviously it's pretty much identical to the iPad WiFi, with a few marked difference both in software and hardware.

The top has a black plastic area instead of metal to allow for better 3G reception. It wraps around from the back of the iPad 3G to flush with the bezel on the front - so you've got both a bit of black in the silver frame of your iPad, and the black ...

    Hey guys,
So I have found a simple way to mod your At&t Sim card to fit into the iPad 3G and work on the 3G network without activating a new data plan.

Simply use an exacto knife to trace out the mini-sim on your iPhone SIM...

Once the SIM is in the iPad you need to enter Settings->Cellular Data->APN Settings ...

With the release of the iPad WiFi+3G today, the Apple tablet juggernaut continues to roll on... and over its competitors, apparently. Microsoft finally admitted it's been working on a tablet - the Courier device that's been talked about for months - only to announce that it'll never see the light of day. At the same time, information has emerged that Hewlett-Packard is killing the HP Slate in ...

At long last, April 30th is here. And scores of Apple fans will finally get their hands on a new iPad today (or ditch their "ancient" WiFi model for a new iPad 3G). But just as eagerly anticipated as the 3G's arrival itself today is the soon-to-be released iPad "Spirit" jailbreak. And when we say soon-to-be released, we mean really soon. As in... maybe today... or tomorrow. But "soon," nonetheless.

If you're planning to step out today to get the new iPad 3G (and you haven't already heard), Apple retail stores will close for one hour between 4-5 PM. The reason? To prep the stores in anticipation of the iPad 3G's arrival. Does this mean Apple store employees will be hanging streamers and inflating balloons? Not quite. It's much more likely that the store will simply prep displays and employees will ...
