AT&T and Verizon today agreed to drop the lawsuits they've been pursuing against each other over advertising claims. The US District Court in Atlanta dismissed AT&T's suit hoping to block Verizon's "there's a map for that" ads, and the US District Court for the Southern District of New York closed an earlier Verizon complaint that would have shut down AT&T's criticisms of its "most ...

The Register is out this morning with an interesting read on the new offering from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey. Dorsey, it turns out, is behind a new mag-stripe reader for the iPhone.

Coming only days after the other Twitter co-founder Biz Stone said 2010 will finally be the year that Twitter proves profitable, hopefully Dorsey isn't moonlighting as a hardware developer to make ends meet until Twitter actually turns a profit ...

Knocking Live has arrived, the first formally sanctioned and Apple approved iPhone app to offer live video broadcasting over a 3G network. A peer to peer video streaming app that enables users to connect through Facebook, Knocking Live's arrival has been "long overdue" to some. But according to 9to5Mac, the app, which hit the App Store earlier this week, is still a bit buggy.

For obvious reasons, the debut of Knocking ...

A Consumer Reports survey of wireless users in the US (subscription required) ranked AT&T dead last among major carriers in terms of quality. Most of the 50,000 people surveyed in 26 cities gave AT&T low ratings in such categories as service availability, circuit capacity, dropped-call frequency, and voice service. Adding insult to injury is the fact that Verizon Wireless - which has been hammering AT&T in its "there's a map ...

I just noticed an update to the RockApp and after installing, and rebooting, I was prompted by RockApp with a note that told me my SSH Password was still at the default of 'alpine' and that I should change my password immediately. (I just restored recently and had not done this yet)

After accepting the pop-up, I was able to enter in a new password. I was then informed that the password had been successfully changed.

    Most ...

Fring is a VoIP and chat client for your mobile phone. The service works with a handful of various networks, including Skype, AIM, MSN Messenger and Twitter. You can even make calls to landlines from your SkypeOut and SkypeIn account and place voice calls to your Skype and Fring address book.

Today, Fring is taking its iPhone app to the next level by bringing support for video chat. Nokia added this feature to some of its devices last week, and the new version of Fring is now in the app store. Fring is free and you can grab it here (iTunes link). That means the iPhone/iPod Touch can now accept incoming Skype Video Calls! This can lead to a bunch of ways to monitor something as well.

I wont lie, I've never really used Fring. I've fired it up once or twice before, but with this update I am very tempted to try it out again. The only problem with this is the iPhone doesn’t have a camera on the front, making ...

An industry analyst credits the iPhone's continued hot sales for buoying Apple's computer business at a time when other PC makers are barely holding their own in the tough economy. Calling it the "iPhone Halo Effect," Needham & Co. analyst Charlie Wolf says the popularity of the iPhone encourages consumers to switch to the Mac. They are doing so in droves: Mac sales worldwide grew 16.4% as compared to the same period last year, while the rest of the PC market grew ...

Back in the days of firmware 2.x and 1.x, we were able to play mame roms directly from our iPhone and iPod Touch. The app was called mame4iphone developed by ZodTTD. It emulates a huge range of arcade games from the 1970's - 2000. mame4iphone was based on MAME 0.37 Beta 5.

mame4iphone is back with vengeance, and is now available for iPhone/iPod Touch firmware 3.0. It is available for download for free on Cydia and also available for Rock users.

What else is new in this release you ask? Well for starters you should notice some performance improvements over the previous version, which is no surprise considering the plethora of changes to firmware 3.0 as well. The emulator has also been updated to MAME4All v2.4. There are specific user interface changes as well that allow for the entire romset to be loaded, as well as some bugs with screen orientation and scaling.
