A patent application Apple made back in November shows that the company is working on a way to allow iPhone users to send data - including text and even short audio messages - over the GSM voice channel, bypassing the servers that carriers use to transfer text messages from one phone to another. AppleInsider got a hold of the application, which describes technology that would work somewhat similarly to ...

Apple has made the unprecedented (and, frankly, odd) decision to ban all screen-protecting film products from all retail stores and the Apple Online Store. Manufacturers have come forth today to (anonymously) tell a number of online sources, such as iLounge and Macworld, that the ban will start in May. No reason was given for the move, which will affect not only standalone film products, but ...

In the past, we've seen all sorts of ornate, lavish iPhone/iPod cases, docks, and other stowing accessories. From gold covered cases to diamond encrusted frames, the accessory business for Apple's mobile devices has seen its share of over-the-top products, most of which the masses could never casually afford.

What's been made available for the iPhone, iPod has now been introduced to the ...

A market analyst is predicting that desktop sales will finally rebound after two straight years of declines, and that much of the reason why is the popularity of Apple's iMac line. Analyst Robert Cihra told his clients today that the PC market in general will grow by from 15% to 20% in 2010 mostly from sales of netbooks and notebooks.

Over the last week I have seen many users and developers warning us of fake Facebook Fan pages. First it was a fake Musclenerd Facebook Page, and later to follow, @saurik warned us of a fake Cydia Facebook page. And the latest to trickle in now, is a fake @geohot Facebook Page.

This seems to be a trend lately, people imposing to be the hard working developers and trying to cash ...

The first weekend of iPadmania brought upwards of 150,000 pre-orders, according to estimates floating around the Web, with store reservations adding an unknown number to the total. While Apple insists that all pre-orders and reservations will be fulfilled on April 3, the company is apparently hedging its bets for a number of iPad accessories. It looks like some of us may not have to wait for the 4th generation iPhone (or later) to enjoy video calls on our iPhones. Live Link 3G, a Japanese-developed application from Yudo Inc., makes it possible for two iPhone users to share a video call. And according to early reviews, the app supports a fairly high-quality video/audio transmission between users.

If there's one lesson we've clearly learned about Apple, it's that Cupertino gets what Cupertino wants. And what Cupertino wants at present is a smorgasbord of websites, mobile applications, and other digital content suppliers to crank out new flash-free offerings optimized for the iPad.

Apparently, Apple's wish is everyone else's command. Despite the consistent barbs from critics, Apple is successfully ...
