A new report by Morgan Stanley suggests that the Apple iPad has "cannibalized" netbook sales... and started doing so before it even went on sale. Though this is the outcome predicted by Steve Jobs - who claimed that netbooks "aren't better than anything" - the report also shows that the iPad may also negatively impact notebook and desktop sales as well.

Analyst Katy Huberty of Morgan Stanley ...

As the iPad prepares to descend upon a multitude of Europe countries, the German makers of the iPad rival known as the "WePad" have taken a different direction with their tablet device and changed its name prior to launch. Say goodbye to the "WePad" and hello to the "WeTab."

Apart from the name change, however, it's pretty much the same iPad knock-off that's been on the horizon for several months.

    The ...

As its crusade against Flash picks up steam, Apple's homemade alternative is getting increasing attention. Gianduia is a client-side JavaScript framework released at last year's World of WebObjects Developer Conference that's aimed directly at Flash Player and Microsoft Silverlight. In a post today, AppleInsider notes the enthusiasm with which it was received by devs at the WOWODC, ...

Having defeated Sony, Nintendo is now setting its sights on Apple. According to a report in the Times Online, company president Satoru Iwata told his staff that the war with Sony is over and that Apple is the “enemy of the future.” The Japanese manufacturer is still making money, but has seen profits fall in the slow economy and intends to market more family-oriented games, which ...

In the latest round of an increasingly comic legal war, Nokia has yet again sued Apple for allegedly infringing on its patents, this time objecting to technology used in the iPad. The Finnish smartphone giant has already sued Apple twice, and also complained to US federal regulators. Apple, for its part, sued Nokia back and filed its own complaint, but is currently under investigation to determine ...

For those of you who have recently purchased an iPad and used the new Spirit jailbreak, you might be wondering which apps are safe to install, which apps actually work, and how you can stay up to date on when these apps will get updated to support iPad Compatibility.

What is always overwhelming is the support from the community, which really makes jailbroken iDevices ...

Apple's position on Flash is clear: there's no desire or room for it on Apple's most popular iDevices (at least from Cupertino's perspective). Consequently, if Apple is charting a course to new horizons that doesn't include Flash on the journey, others who want to make the trek with Apple similarly have their work cut out for them - namely, to also cut out the need for Flash wherever appropriate and ...

Earlier today, saurik released an update for winterboard with limited support for the iPad. It appears that the new build has access to the other.artwork file of the iPad, thus allowing many of the app and system UIs to be themed. So far it seems to work with icons, system UIs, sliders, wallpapers, and many of the stock features of winterboard. ...

Alright guys, here's a dose of new apps and updates this week for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. With the Spirit jailbreak being released over the weekend, there are lots of updates to cover for this week. As time progresses, we should see more Cydia/Rock apps being updated to work with the iPad. There seems to be a lot of updates today as well, so I'll update this list if anything pops in.

One of my favorite updates in all of this is the fact that Winterboard is now somewhat supported on the iPad. It has "Summerboard Support" which means you get your basics, like Icons and wallpapers, although not all of them will show up right. A lot of the themes will need some tweaking before they are 100% again.

For a list of compatible JB iPad Apps check out this list. ...

With the number of vulnerabilities dwindling in the iPhone OS, there is never been a better time to get the community more involved in developing jailbreaks. When most people in the community decide they would like to help out and try to investigate how to go about it, they typically find little or no help in doing so. Even the official documentation ...
