Many will recall the very self-serving decision by Apple earlier this spring to revise its iPhone OS - excuse me, iOS - developer agreement to effectively prohibit third parties from collecting user data and other analytics most advertisers consider to be vital. But now that's all changed - at least a little.

While Apple is no longer comprehensively closed off to other ad networks, the ...

In yesterday's iPhone 4 announcement, Steve Jobs shoveled a lot of specs at us, particularly regarding the new "Retina Display." The oddly-named screen - an LCD with a pixel density abnormally high for a mobile phone - seems like it will be one of those features, like the iPad's display, that you have to see to appreciate. The iPad was not that impressive when it was first announced, one may remember, but many people ...

Apple either accidentally let a fairly large cat out of a bag today or made some sort of bizarre graphic mistake. As noted by the eagle-eyed Stuart Miles at Pocket-lint.com, an image on the US iTunes 4 web pages showed an "Open in Keynote" option for an email attachment. Keynote and the rest of the iWork suite are currently only available on iPad. The graphic has since been changed to show ...

During the WWDC Keynote today, we were told "iOS 4 software will be available on June 21 as a free software update via iTunes 9.2 or later for iPhone and iPod touch customers". As you can imagine, the iOS 4 GM and the beta version of iTunes 9.2 is now available for developers through the Apple Developer portal.

One can assume that the official release will coincide with the iOS 4 release June 21st.

It seems Apple wasn't quite done with their announcements after the KeyNote presentation today. A press release posted by Apple announced the release of Safari 5 earlier today, which is now available for download on both the Mac and PC. This new version brings TONS of updates and new features such as Safari Reader.

Calling it "the most advanced mobile operating system in the world," Steve Jobs announced at WWDC 10 today that the next revision of iPhone OS will be called "iOS 4." With a new name that reflects the spread of the operating system from the iPhone to the iPod touch and now the iPad, iOS 4 went Gold Master today with what Jobs said were 1,500 new features. As the live audience in attendance and thousands more across the blogosphere awaited the 8th and final attribute of the new iPhone to be introduced, many - if not most - were surprised by what Steve Jobs saved for last. Thinking the new video chat functionality dubbed "FaceTime" would be the last feature introduced (ultimately, though, it was), Apple's head honcho took more than a few minutes to plug Apple's foray ...

It may not be long before the hottest entries to the Sundance Film Festival come from iPhone users playing with the mobile version of iMovie. Today at WWDC, Steve Jobs rolled out a forthcoming iPhone 4 edition of the popular video-editing suite. "Assuming we approve it," said Jobs to a more-than receptive audience for that joke, the app will run $4.99 and should turn up shortly in the App ...

Steve Jobs had "one more thing" for us all today at Apple's 2010 WWDC. As we all sort of expected but were thrilled to see confirmed nonetheless, the 4th generation iPhone will deliver video chat capabilities. Although the widely anticipated name - iChat - won't be utilized, "FaceTime" provides the same, much-anticipated functionality - the ability to place and receive video phone ...
