Apple has supposedly elevated its 1st quarter iPhone shipment goals by a substantial margin according to reports surfacing Monday morning. Initial estimates for 1st quarter 2011 iPhone shipments fell into the range of 19 million units. That already-teeming number has allegedly been upped by Apple to approximately 21 million.

Naturally, this situation begs the obvious question: What ...

Apple is now offering refurbished MacBook Air models at a 15% discount. Itís quite remarkable that Apple would already be selling refurbished MacBook Air models so soon after introducing them. Currently, Apple is selling the 11.6-inch model with 2 GB of RAM and 128 GB solid-state drive for $1,019 and the 13.3-inch model with 2 GB and 256 GB solid-state drive for $1,349. Another piece of Apple history is up for sale on eBay, a Macintosh Portable. This unit is a prototype and was not intended for resale. The Mac Portable was Apples first attempt at building a Mac that could be taken with you. There have been quite a few auctions recently offering historic Apple computers. If these auctions are any indication, then this unit should fetch more than its $1750 starting price.

    According ...

As a new Congress prepares to assume power in Washington, a longstanding restriction is about to be lifted in the hallowed chambers. For the first time, iDevices will be allowed for use on the floor of the US House of Representatives. If the new rule is adopted - and it's expected to be adopted at the start of the 112th Congress - members would, however, be required to silence their iPhones, BlackBerrys, iPads, ...

The iPhone may be one of the world's most popular smartphones, but that apparently doesn't translate to all of its owners being equally as "smart" as the phone. Case in point: Jerome Taylor, who discovered during this holiday weekend that the iPhone makes a terrible "weapon" with which to rob an Indian restaurant in Connecticut.

An incredible story widely reported over the Christmas ...

MuscleNerd is looking for Mac users to help test the "Jailbreak Monte" 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak, which the Dev-Team is pushing out this weekend ahead of @comex's more extensible method. If you have an iPhone4, iPad, or iPod touch 4G and are interested in redsn0w 0.9.7b1, be aware that it is beta code, and it's very possible that things can go wrong. Make sure you have ...

On Friday, word broke of Skype's alleged plan to introduce video chat capabilities for Skype Mobile on iOS. Proof of the looming update came from a "leaked document" on Skype’s official website - a doc titled “How do I make video calls with Skype for iPhone?” Then, later on Friday, following numerous published reports of the above, Skype pulled the document.

    Christmas morning, ...

Those who suspected Google TV would blow Apple TV out of the water are effectively eating their words on the heels of news that Apple TV has thumped Google TV to such an extent that the product, it's makers, and suppliers are reeling from the platform's less than stellar sales.

According to DigiTimes, Logitech has ceased shipments of its Revue Google TV boxes for the time being, awaiting ...

The drama surrounding the SHAtter exploit continues. A Dutch dev threatened to leak the code last week, and even though that threat was thought to have subsided, someone apparently did go ahead and leak SHAtter Wednesday. This led to a Twitter fight between p0sixninja and MuscleNerd, whom p0six had accused of being the leaker. Musclenerd denies this, but according to p0sixninja, SHAtter has been burned. ...

Earlier this week, Skype was the talk of the social networking world when the popular service temporarily bit the dust and sustained an outage that had people wondering what was wrong from every corner of the globe. From desktop to mobile applications, Skype went down for the count, a situation that has since been reversed but not without a lot of additional attention on the popular social ...

With only days remaining until the dawn of a new year, it seems there's always time to squeeze in yet another celebration of the life and achievements of Apple CEO Steve Jobs. At least that's how the editors at The Financial Times feel, as they have officially named Apple's big cheese as their "Person of the Year" for 2010.

Of all the factors used to evaluate Jobs for the ...

Just in time for Christmas, Santa has brought us some new rumors about the iPad 2G, or - as I suspect it will be called - simply the 2011 iPad. The details are subtle enough to be believable: as opposed to rumors that it will have a Retina Display, or will make the owner invisible or convey immortality, these reports merely describe an iPad in a slimmer case, with both front and rear facing cameras and ...
