Next month, the NASDAQ stock exchange will rebalance its benchmark NASDAQ 100. In the process, the exchange will effectively slash Apple Inc's weighting and likely spark no shortage of volatility as traders and investors navigate the upheavals and readjust their stock portfolios.

Wall Street analysts who have publicly commented on the matter today are correct in saying that the rebalancing of the NASDAQ ...

A couple days ago I wrote an article discussing Toyota's Scion theme they'd published in Cydia through Velti, an advertising agency they use. I was impressed at a major corporation recognizing the niche jailbreak market and pouring some attention into it. The idea brought some interesting possibilities, and the article got some legs, including a mention on Daring Fireball this morning.

    Apple ...

It looks like a federal grand jury is taking a closer look at specific third-party applications in both Apple's iTunes store and Google's Android Market to see if some applications are retrieving personal user info from their apps. This is a big no-no in the world of computer-fraud, and could lead to prosecution of any company that may be found to be doing these illegal practices through their applications.

Calls to AT&T have confirmed looming speculation Monday about AT&T hiking its early upgrade and no-commitment pricing for the wireless carrier's expansive line of smartphones, including the iPhone. Although the changes take place this week, only customers who are presently ineligible for upgrade - or unwilling to sign a new two-year contract - will be effected by the across-the-board price ...

TrapCall was trapped for months in Apple's App Store purgatory, withstanding one of the most stringent known reviews in App Store history. For 201 days, TrapCall - an app that allows users to find out who's really behind blocked phone calls - was being analyzed under a microscope given the obvious privacy concerns such an app raises.

But now comes word that TrapCell has made it through. ...

When Apple revamped the iPod nano line last September, the new model brought with it a more iOS-like interface. Although the sixth generation iPod nano is an impressive feat of engineering, its smaller form factor required quite a few compromises. The lack of a camera is one of the more notable features missing from the latest iPod nano model. That may be about to change, however, if the latest image coming out ...

Apple has debuted the first commercial for its second generation tablet... you know, just in case there are one or two people left on the planet who haven't heard about it. Less than one month old, the previously commercial-less iPad 2 has already taken the global tablet community by storm, with near sell-outs reported in almost every country in which the product has been made available. ...

Howard Stringer, the CEO of Sony (pictured above), has dropped an iPhone 5 bombshell. During a freshly published interview with the Sony chief, Stringer reportedly had a slip of the tongue and "accidentally" revealed that Apple's 5th generation iPhone may pack the most impressive camera to date in the history of the iPhone.

According to Stringer, the iPhone 5 will likely feature an 8MP ...

In July of last year, the Federal Government brought some clarification to a previously much-debated question and declared jailbreaking legal. Millions of folks who'd jailbroken their iDevices rejoiced, but aside from that not much changed visibly.

Now, however, we are beginning to see signs pointing to the legitimization of the jailbreak community in big business' eyes. With millions of iDevices in ...

At lot of folks have apparently forgotten what today's date is. Over the last few hours, multiple mainstream and Mac-related media outlets have picked up on the unconfirmed report that Steve Jobs is resigning as CEO of Apple. But nowhere is the rumor machine on overdrive more than Twitter - you know, the bastion of journalistic integrity that comes in bursts of 140 characters, just like Walter ...

Users with jailbroken iOS devices, and with Cydia 1.1 may have noticed a change to the "changes" section of Cydia over the past twenty-four hours or so. In fact, "changes" is completely gone, and has been replaced with a new bottom button, the Timeline section.

Offering similar functionality to the changes section, the Timeline section has a top section devoted to Cydia tweaks and apps that ...
