Apple's iWork suite consisting of Keynote, Pages, and Numbers is very similar to Microsoft Office's PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; Apple brought iWork to the iOS platform last year, extending its reach from Mac OS X. Microsoft, on the other hand, has not yet brought their Microsoft Office suite to the iOS platform, albeit it is available on the Mac OS X platform.

This will all change soon, as Microsoft’s Czech division has ...

Apple is reportedly taking longer to produce iPhone 5 units as they attempt to address quality control issues having to do with customers receiving units with scuff marks in the anodized aluminum. The scuff marks were addressed by Apple’s Phil Schiller as “normal,” with use but users know better than for a new device to come out of the box all scuffed up as if it had been drop-tested before ...

A number of developers spoke to CNET under the guise of anonymity, and claim they repeatedly warned Apple about glaring problems with iOS 6’s Maps app, but their warnings were ignored.

All of the developers that spoke to CNET have apps currently in the App Store that utilize Apple’s mapping assets to function. Apple issued four different pre-release versions of Maps during iOS 6’s development.

    With ...

Earlier, ModMyi showed you a tool that could be used to hide Newsstand from view on your home screen whether you were jailbroken or not. The tool was called StifleStand by iOS developer Filippo Bigarella and it would place Newsstand in a folder where it would become invisible from the home screen until you open the folder. You could put other applications in folder or name the folder anything you want despite the default name of “Magic.”

iOS hacker @ih8sn0w just recently retweeted ...

Apple sure did brag a lot about applications taking full advantage of the large four-inch iPhone 5 display canvas space, but one thing that really should be re-thought now that the screen has a taller profile is the puny multitasking App Switcher. Surely with the extra vertical real estate, Apple could have thought of a better idea than a simple row of icons?

A recent concept by The Verge has become a viral sensation today as to what the multitasking ...

Some of you are probably as big of Spofity junkies as I am, leaning toward the music streaming method instead of downloading music and syncing it to your iPhone’s Music application through iTunes. A new free jailbreak tweak called SpotiPlay by iOS developer Fllorent0D aims to make life easier for us Spotify folk by making Spotify iOS’ default music player application.

The tweak will make it so the iPod controls from the multitasking ...

Many of us hate the Newsstand application because we simply don’t have a use for it. Albeit we dislike it, it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. If you want to hide the icon from your home screen, iOS developer Filippo Bigarella has released a free tool for Mac OS X called Stiflestand that allows you to hide the Newsstand application from your home screen with the click of a button.

As shown above, the application will detect when you have connected your iOS device. In this case, our iPod touch was recognized. If you used an iPhone, it would ...

So it seems like there are a lot of people that don’t like Apple’s new iOS 6 Maps application. If you’re one of these people, then you’re probably either not upgrading to iOS 6, or you’re simply waiting for Google to release their own Google Maps application to the iOS App Store. Well we have a treat for those of you that want Google Maps back on your iOS 6 device. Cult of Mac has found a new and free third party application in the App Store that mimics Google Maps from iOS 5 called ...

Alongside the announcement of the iPhone 5, Apple also introduced the iPod touch 5G. It wasn’t released on the same date as the iPhone 5, but customers were able to pre-order the device. It appears that customers who did pre-order the iPod touch 5G are starting to get shipment notifications today. Just yesterday, Apple started sending shipment notifications for their Lightning to 30-pin connector adapter.

Apple and Google spent more on patent lawsuits and patent acquisitions last year than research and development.

This sheer amount of money each company has wasted in courtrooms across the world is staggering. The gem of information detailing just how much each company is spending was more an afterthought in a larger New York Times piece detailing problems with the current U.S. patent system.

    And according ...

If Apple doesn't release a so-called iPad mini before the end of 2012, sales of the touchscreen tablet computer will likely still exceed 21 million units. But if the iPad mini does come, a barnburner could be in store for Apple's final quarter of the year.

Analyst Amit Daryanani of RBC Capital Markets believes Apple could sell more that 30 million iPad units by December 31st if the iPad ...

When using the iOS keyboard, you may have noticed that between the extra symbols keyboard and the numbers keyboard, the second to last row of keys is exactly the same. Being that this is a redundant set of keys, a clever iOS developer by the name of iAmharic thought it would be useful to replace this row of keys with Emojis! The new tweak is free and it's called QuickEmoji.

As shown above, the whole row is completely replaced by Emojis only on the extra symbol ...
