In a recent note to investors, analyst Michael Walkley of Canaccord Genuity said that he sees Apple accounting for 21% of smartphone sales in 2013, with a total iPhone unit sales of 204.1 million. Samsung is projected to have a 31.3% share in 2013 on sales of 304.4 million smartphones. Together that would place Apple and Samsung in control of 52.3% of the total global smartphone market. Do you ever feel that rush of excitement when you start downloading an application that you really want from the App Store? It can be very mind-numbing to watch that little blue bar fill up – especially when the application is large and takes a while to download. Now, instead of simply watching and waiting, you can be alerted when your applications finish downloading and installing. The tweak is called Download Reminder, by iOS developer greensnow, and you ...

You’ve probably never seen the iOS Emojis displayed in the screenshots above – this is because they are only available in iOS 5.1+ or Mac OS X Lion+ and Apple never gave us access to them (what else is new?). The additional Emojis play nicely with the Emojis you already have access to, however anyone on iOS 5.0.1 or older or using Mac OS X Snow Leopard or older will not be able to see these Emojis if you use them, so you will have to be selective to whom you send them to.

A spec sheet leaked today casts doubt on 9t5Mac’s report yesterday that the new 13” MacBook would feature a retina display.

The leaked document, pictured above, lists the specs of the upcoming 13” MacBook Pro and for the most part they match what the rumor mill has spit out over the last few months: updated processors, Thunderbolt port, and two USB 3.0 ports. However, a few key differences from the ...

On Tuesday morning, news broke from an informed source speaking with MarketWatch that Sprint is on the precipice of launching the iPhone on its growing Virgin Mobile network. This, of course, would put the iPhone on track to become a prepaid smartphone offering.

The carrier is expected to announce this week that it will offer the popular smartphone on its Virgin Mobile pay-as-you-go brand ...

A mockup by Spencer Caldwell for 9to5Mac of what the "Do Not Disturb" toggle will look like.

If 9to5Mac’s sources are right, the cross breeding between iOS and Apple’s OS X operating systems will be even more apparent when Apple unveils iOS 6 later this year.

So far most of the cross breeding between the two operating systems has been evident in the iOS 5 features popping up in developer builds of OS X Mountain ...
