Phil Schiller did the honors of unveiling Apple's new iPhone 5 today in San Francisco.

While taking the covers off of the next-generation iPhone, Schiller described the device as an absolute "jewel."

It's the thinnest and lightest iPhone Apple has produced so far at just 7.6mm thick. All told, that's 18% thinner than the last model.

"I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the hardware and software engineering ...

Cover Flow can sometimes be an annoying part of listening to Music when you’re using your iPhone or iPod because if you just tilt the device just a little bit (such as when laying down), you’re suddenly in an interface you may not have intended to be in. If you’re not one to enjoy having Cover Flow as a method of listening to music on your iPhone or iPod, then there’s a new free jailbreak tweak in Cydia today called NoCoverFlow by iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich ...

As expected, the launch of Apple’s new iPhone is predicted to have a major impact on the personal electronics market. As of right now, it’s expected to make LTE smartphones look bulky and subpar while taking IT dollars away from PC manufacturers such as Dell and HP. According to Mark Moskowitz of J.P. Morgan, the entire technology “food chain” will have winners and losers as a result of Apple’s next-generation ...

Sometimes the silent switch on the side of the iPhone gets turned onto silent by mistake. Whether some unknown force from inside of your pocket does it, or you just accidently do it yourself, silent mode can cause you to miss important calls if you can’t hear your ringtone. A new tweak called Smart Ringer by iOS developer dmarinov aims to prevent this issue.

After you install Smart Ringer, you will get the above alert every ...

If you like customizing the look of iOS, another free tweak has just surfaced in Cydia today called Quantum, by iOS developer Sirifl0w. The tweak brings customization to the iOS 5 notification banners, allowing you to change the font of both the message content and the title from within the banners. Above is a screenshot example of what it would look like to have the font changed with Quantum.

It’s obviously a very minor change to iOS as a whole, ...

Ever since the original iPhone shipped in 2007, T-Mobile has been a host to unlocked iPhones on its network. The one downside all along has been the fact that iPhone users on T-Mobile only get the much slower 2G GSM frequency speeds. The 3G networks that T-Mobile built haven’t been compatible with the iPhone because they work on non-standard AWS (Advanced Wireless Spectrum) frequencies rather than those ...
