This week Cydia’s repositories were hit with a good number of nice themes, but we think that Notebook by Bluemetal was the greatest of them all because of the amount of detail that brings the theme into a sense of graphical realism.

Notebook doesn’t play around. The theme was created to resemble that of a personal notebook – as the name implies. The lock screen looks stunning and resembles that of a cover of a personal notebook that includes a built-in RSS feed and weather summary. The slide to unlock slider gets a whole new look as well as the camera grabber. When you start ...

Last week we showed you an application for Mac OS X that could make your computer emit the sounds of a classic typewriter as you typed on your keyboard. It mimicked the ticking noise of the typewriter, the dinging noise of starting a new line, and it made typing fun. Some people really liked the feedback of the typewriter sound when typing on the keyboard, so it was only a matter of time before someone brought it to iOS.

The new tweak, dubbed iTypeWriter ...

Sparrow has been widely regarded as one of the best e-mail clients both for iOS and Mac OS X alike. The application has replaced the stock applications on both devices – mobile and desktop – for tons of e-mail users that use Apple’s devices. The application is popular because of its slick looks, great interface, and zippy speeds. Just last month, the iOS application received support for POP e-mail accounts and it was promised ...

iPad owners out there that dislike the way Apple’s banners are implemented should take a look at this new upcoming jailbreak tweak called Banners+ by iOS developer Rudolf Lichtner. Right now, iPad notification banners don't take good advantage of the iPad's large screen and they appear in the top portion of the screen. Banners+ will give you more of a limited Growl-like notification experience on the iPad.

    The ...

Within the last week it was discovered in iOS 6 beta 3 that AT&T is probably going to charge us to use FaceTime over their cellular network, a feature that Apple promised us when they unveiled iOS 6 at WWDC 2012. Yesterday, ModMyi also reported that AT&T’s Chief Executive Officer, Randall Stephenson, responded to the rumor saying that it was, "too early" to respond to the circulating rumors about AT&T charging users ...

The one thing about all iOS devices that we love the most is the built in Wi-Fi capability that makes these little devices like pocket computers. However if you find the act of unlocking the device and opening the Safari application to browse the Internet a pain, a new jailbreak tweak dubbed LockWeb by iOS developer Smartviper E75 will let you browse the Internet right from your lock screen without the need to even unlock your iOS device.

As shown above, the tweak handles like Mobile ...

Wouldn’t it just be great if instead of tapping on a contact from the Contacts application to see all the contact details and options, you could just perform a tap gesture on the contact's name to execute an action? A new free jailbreak tweak called CallTap by iOS developer theiostream is now live on Cydia and it allows you to perform tap-based gestures on the names of your contacts from the list of contacts in the Contacts application and it can save a lot of time.

Typing on a small mobile screen like that of the iPhone can be very cumbersome, so why not decrease the workload and let the software help you with the typing? A new jailbreak tweak called Octopus Keyboard by iOS developer Mario Hros will allow the keyboard to guess at the words you are most likely trying to spell so you don’t have to manually type those words all the way out. With the way the keyboard works, you might feel like you’re typing like an Octopus – hence the name.

iOS has a very good passcode system. You simply need to set a passcode and it’s usually enough to keep almost anyone with your iPhone in their hand out of your personal information. Unfortunately, it’s so good that it’s also secure against a person that forgets their own passcode, which ultimately leads to complications down the line.

iOS developer Gil Ben Moshe has created a jailbreak tweak called Plan B, which can be used to regain control of your iOS ...
