  • Version 1.2 of evasi0n iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Tool Released, Cydia Package Updated

The hacker team known as evad3rs have pushed an update to the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak tool called evasi0n. The updated tool is now version 1.2. The evad3rs have also updated the evasi0n untethered 6.0-6.1 package in Cydia, which is now version 0.3-1.

According to the change log, version 1.2 of evasi0n fixes a problem with the time zone when itís not corrected by the client, and disables OTA (over the air) updating for the device itís installed on.

By disabling the OTA updating feature, users will not be notified of iOS 6.1.1 when it is released to the public. iOS 6.1.1 went into its first beta for developers to test on Wednesday. The iOS 6.1.1 update does not patch evasi0n just yet, but hackers have predicted that a future beta version might patch the evasi0n jailbreak before the update is released to the public. It would be a miracle if it didnít.

If youíre not jailbroken yet, you should run the latest evasi0n jailbreak (version 1.2) to jailbreak your device. If youíre already jailbroken, you only need to install the updated evasi0n package from Cydia, which will appear when you refresh your Cydia sources.

The recently released evasi0n version 1.1 fixes the problem with the Weather application crashing and with the long boot times occurring. The updated evasi0n Cydia package (version 0.3-1) and updated evasi0n jailbreak tool (version 1.2) include these fixes as well.

You can download the updated evasi0n tool from the evasi0n Web site, and view our guide on how to jailbreak with evasi0n from this link.

The same thing happened to me today. Just put all your applications the way you had them.

      Oh maybe so. Thanks.

I thought most most ModMyi users were Americans. At least the owner of the site is from the same county as me.

Easier said than done for most of us who've spent a lot of time arranging our screens. I have over 90 apps. I don't wan't to ever have to rebuild my folders again. He could save himself a lot of hassle by finding a copy of his IconState.plist file in var/mobile/Library/Springboard in his most recent iTunes backup with iExplorer or iBackUpBot and get his icon placement back by recopying the IconState.plist file back to his phone.

I have over 90 apps. After a while you get used to it (like restoring your devices all the time ).

With the MultiIconMover tweak its easier for sure. But nothing's easier than SSH'ing a backup copy of your IconState.plist file back in. Done in 10 seconds. With that option who would ever want to rebuild their app pages manually? .. What a waste of precious modding time.

Lol!! On MMI actually the thanks button is more about agreeing with someone than thanking for helpful info. But let's not go down this trail again.

Speaking of the weather app, anyone knows when WeatherIcon will be updated for iOS 6? I know it is not on the compatibility list for iOS 6, but I'm hoping that he developer will update this. I don't like to see 73 degrees and sunny when it isn't. It's a great little tweak.

      1. Remove that tool you use to sync unsigned apps

      2. Reboot

      3. Open Cydia and go to Manage/Packages and at the top right near your status bar hit the "Simple" Button

      4. Scroll down to find UIKit Tools and Reinstall it

      5. when its done installing open iFile or an SSH or program like i-FunBox and delete these Files:

      var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist
      var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore

      5. Reboot and Your Weather app should work

Sweeet!!! I followed these steps and now my weather app is working perfectly fine! I didn't do steps 1 and 2 though, because I didn't have any "tools" that I use to sync my unassigned apps. Thank you!!! ))

Planetbeing just posted on twitter that the jailbreak still works on it and they will be releasing an update to evasi0n for it.

Hi. Is jailbreaking iOS 6.1 that was updated OTA still not recommended? Is there an evasion fix for it already? Thanks!

No fix for it. OTA has some bugs with it I wouldn't recommend doing a jailbreak with a firmware that was updated OTA
