  • 'RespringCacheFix' Cleans Junk Files Created By Resprings in iOS 6.1

Be careful respringing that iOS 6.1 jailbroken device too many times in a row. According to iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich, every time you respring that iOS 6.1 device, a lot of temporary files are created that waste a ton of space. Reboots won’t do the same thing, but resprings are easier and more convenient than reboots, so many of us do that more often than reboot.

If you want to keep respringing your iOS 6.1 device without having to worry about the build up of these irritating temporary files, Ryan has created a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed RespringCacheFix that will automatically get rid of these junk files for you after each respring on iOS 6.1.

Ryan warns that the package is still in beta and hasn’t had any significant testing, however we’ve been using it all day on more than one iOS 6.1 jailbroken device (iPhone 5 included) and nothing abnormal has happened.

If you want to add RespringCacheFix to your jailbroken iOS 6.1 device, add Ryan Petrich’s beta repository by following the steps below:

    • tap on the Manage tab
    • tap on the Sources button
    • tap on the Edit button
    • tap on the Add button
    • enter the following URL and then tap Add Source:

    PHP Code:
    http://rpetri.ch/repo/
    Name: RespringCacheFix
    Price: FREE
    Version: 0.1
    Requirements: iOS 6.1
    Repo: Ryan Petrich's Beta Repository
    Developer: Ryan Petrich

doesn't "iWipe Cache" do the same thing as RespringCacheFix?

The article says "RespringCacheFix that will automatically get rid of these junk files for you after each respring on iOS 6.1." Sounds like it runs in the background and you don't do anything.

4S and I can't reboot. 3 fresh restores and JBs. Right after Cydia builds
      the file structure.

they said the jailbreak app didnt cause the weather app problem and apparently the respring problem is ios 6.1 bug.

Guy on twitter said its got something to do with icons or apps, he has approx 100 icons and it was caching 26mb of junk each respring!
We're talking gigabytes for most of us!

I know my resprings take about 5 seconds now after installing this when they used to take at least 12 seconds.

      BE CAREFUL!

This app was causing my iPhone 5 6.1 to randomly crash the springboard, and sometimes it would not reboot. Finally, I narrowed it down to this tweak. Watching it in Cydia to wait for an update that is less buggy. Need my phone to function reliably!

Good idea. Saved me about 300mb. However, it killed a tweak call motion that I love. I had to restore and re jailbreak to get motion working again.

The not rebooting problem is a known bug with our new jailbreak itself as acknowledged by Evad3rs. Random springboard crashes too. So it has nothing to do with this great tweak. The tweak is not buggy at all. Please do a little more reading, some of you. :/

I have an i5 Device and have had no issues with this tweak so far.
