  • The evasi0n Jailbreak Showing 85% Complete On Web Site, Testing Continues

The evasi0n Web site has been updated Sunday morning displaying an 85% completion status for the evasi0n jailbreak tool, which will be available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux. The Web site says that the tool has gone through the first major round of testing on Mac and Windows, however it doesn’t make mention of Linux just yet. Additionally, the site says that the next step will be, you guessed it, testing even more device and firmware combinations with the jailbreak tool.

The updated site comes hours after iOS hacker planetbeing announced on Twitter that progress was made in testing and that there was still a lot more to go. MuscleNerd noted that there are 22 different variants of devices that need to be tested, and there are four different firmware versions that need to be tested with these different devices. On top of all this, there are three different tools, for the different computer operating systems, that have to be tested.

When released, evasi0n will support iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, and iOS 6.1 for all of the devices that can run them, including Apple’s new iPhone 5, iPod touch 5G, iPad with retina display, and iPad Mini. The jailbreak will be untethered, and jailbreak tweaks have been receiving updates regularly for the past couple of days as developers rush to get their software compatible for the latest version of iOS in time for the imminent jailbreak.

For those of you waiting on the jailbreak, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be very far away. At 85% completion, it looks like it will definitely be out this week, if not later Sunday as hinted by MuscleNerd in one of his earlier Tweets. If your iOS device(s) are still not ready for the jailbreak, we recommend that you take a peek at our optional guide for getting your iOS device(s) ready, as it will help ensure that the jailbreak process goes smoothly for you.

We've also put together a list of ten great iOS 6-compatbile jailbreak tweaks that you should consider after you jailbreak your iOS 6 device(s). Major jailbreak tweaks like LockInfo, IntelliScreenX, and MyWi have also been updated. Stay turned!

What do they have to test? The code that jailbreaks might have an error and crash into an infiite loop or what?

My theory is that they will release the evasi0n tool right at kick off. It might help the traffic flow if you think about it.

evasi0n jailbreak postponed till after release of 6.1.1
No kidding. I can see the headlines now..

"Apple newest firmware policies announce death knell for Jailbreakers as of today, firmware updates will be released on a daily basis starting with 6.1.2.3.2013 followed by 6.1.2.4.2013".

      Jailbreaks are suspended indefinitely.

But the calendars on the devices on the evasi0n home page still point to today's date
I can almost guarantee a release today, well I guess it depends on your time zone but still it should come out today, it's at 85%, 95% will probably be "prepping for launch" 90% will be Linux testing finished, they have all of today and they are working very hard

Updated and patiently waiting. It's best to have the devs test it all out before they give the go ahead. Either way this is great news.

Okay, so I hear everyone saying to go ahead and update devices to 6.1 in anticipation of the newest jb (and to insure access to a firmware ver Apple is still signing should 6.1.1 show up outta nowhere) and this afternoon i went ahead and updated the iP5. However, my iPad3 is jailbroken now, running 5.1.1 and I use several tweaks daily (meaning, I'd rather not be w/o them if at all possible). If I go ahead and update the iPad to 6.1 today and the JB doesn't arrive for another week or so, is there a way to downgrade to 5.1.1? With or without SHSH blobs? Just want to know what - if any - options I'll have if I take the plunge today and things don't work out so hot by midnight ET Thanks!

There was a tweet a couple days ago with a link to reddit on planetbeing saying why they are testing and if they let out a jailbreak not being fully tested could cause issues for those less technical and hurt the eye of jail breaking to news outlets or be used against it.

There's no way to downgrade from iOS 6 to iOS 5 unless you're on a limera1n device.

I have to admit the name 'evasion' has me scratching my head. Pod2g loves anagrams, and 'evasion' is an anagram of 'so naive'. As much as we all love Rick Astley, I really hope this isn't another link to that video again. I know i0n1c has a slightly dark sense of humor, but I do see his point about evasi0n.com. The dreamjb website looked prettier and had fewer adds :-)
