  • The evasi0n iOS 6 Jailbreak is 75% Done, Linux Being Worked On, Private Testing Begins

Just yesterday, the iOS 6 jailbreak team known as evad3rs had updated the evasi0n Web site showing that the evasi0n jailbreak tool had been completed for Windows and Mac OS X, however it was being worked on for Linux. The Web site, at the time, showed a 68% progress indicator, and told us that the private beta testing would be the next step.

This morning, the progress bar has budged to 75%. According to the evasi0n Web site, the Linux tool is still being worked on, however private beta testing for the Mac OS X and Windows versions of the tools has commenced. We can assume that the private beta testing is only being made available to the hackers themselves, to ensure that nothing is leaked ahead of time.

After the private beta testing has finished, an extended beta testing will begin, as the evasi0n Web site indicates. Pod2g hinted on his Twitter this morning that progress was being made on the tool an that it will be out soon. He also made us aware of a Reddit post from planetbeing, where planetbeing explains the importance of ensuring that the GUI is done right before releasing it to the public.

When released, the evasi0n jailbreak will support iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, and iOS 6.1 on all of the devices that can run it, including Apples new iPhone 5, iPod touch 5G, fourth-generation iPad, and the iPad Mini. Weve put together a short guide so you can get your iOS device(s) ready for the jailbreak, and a list of jailbreak tweaks you should check out when the jailbreak debuts.

You don't have to respect it's existence or people who use it, but you still have to wait.
Regardless, respect is a courtesy, and a nice one at that.

I remember when I was a Windows user patiently waiting for a tool for my OS while Mac users were jailbreaking.

I know they are making money via advertisments but come on! send them a couple dollars! $5 wouldn't harm me. I am sure you guys could donate too. I mean you own an apple product. You aren't that poor lol

      +1

If you can afford a apple product to jailbreak then you can afford 5,10, maybe 20 dollars to donate for there time. I certainly will be.

That shouldn't matter since if I remember rightly Anthony posted a link to Reddit in another news post where the"lag" as you call it was being discussed and to combat it main Cydia sources (that's MMI and BigBoss) will come per-loaded with Cydia so that only the differences will be added when reloading sources...

Respect is a nice courtesy. While not obligatory, it is quite nifty.

I have never seen cydia, mmi and Bigboss handle new jailbreaks very well. I know the last couple of jailbreaks if all the resources did not load it screwed the jailbreak up/your phone. It has took up to a week for the servers to cool down before you could load the basics.

If you've been following up with what Saurik and the group have been saying, the jailbreak will come with a 'pre-primed' version of Cydia that won't have the errors like in the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak release.
