  • 'tsLock O' Lets You Lock Your iPhone in Any Orientation You Want

    Unfortunately, Apple only gives you the option to lock your device into portrait orientation. A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed tsLock O by iOS developer typ0s2d10 allows you to lock your device into any orientation that you want to; including landscape orientation.

    After installing the tweak, if you want to lock your device in landscape orientation, you will need to go into an application that supports landscape orientation, such as Mobile Safari, and then open the App Switcher. After you do this, swipe over to your iPod controls and tap on the orientation lock button.

    The orientation lock icon will appear in the Status Bar even when you’re in landscape mode, and you will be unable to shift the device back into portrait orientation until you release the orientation lock via the App Switcher. The process is exactly the same as if you had set the orientation lock in portrait orientation mode.

    TsLock O does not have any options to configure and the tweak is compatible with both iOS 5 and iOS 6. The tweak is available right now for free from the BigBoss repository in Cydia.

      I've been using Landscape Lock Rotation which does the same thing, but it's not free so this is a great alternative.

      I also have Orientation Activator so that I can more quickly lock/unlock the orientation. I have it set so that a short hold of the home button locks/unlocks. Works like a charm.

      SpringFlash for Activator is also one of my favorites. I have it so that a long hold of the home button while the device is locked turns on/off the LED light. I use it ALL the time. No need for (and much faster) than any flashlight app. The miracles of jailbreaking

      I'll probably use that if I ever go back to iPhone. On the iPad and other iOS devices, the silence switch works well for orientation lock.

      Used it several times a day on my iPhone 4 and miss it every day without a jailbroken iPhone. I prefer double-tapping the lock button to activate it, though it bugs out sometimes.

      Yeah, there used to be some issues with it where it would make a quick flash before turning on or it would stop working altogether. But it's been updated and works perfectly now.

      I don't understand what locking your screen orientation has to do with transexuals, but whatever. If anything the orientation should go either way.

      Locking the screen in landscape (on iPhone) can be done WITHOUT a jailbreak or any tweaks. Just use normal "rotation lock" with "assistive touch".

      1. Go to settings>general>accessibility>triple click-home and set to "ask" or "assistive touch".

      2. Turn on "rotation/orientation lock" (by double clicking home...)

      3. Open app u want to use in landscape (app must support landscape, like safari).

      4. Triple click home and turn on "assistive touch". Gives you a virtual home button.

      5. Touch virtual home button>device>screen-rotation and rotate in chosen direction.

      6. Triple click home to turn off assistive touch (to remove virtual home button or just leave it)

      Works on iPhone 5 don't know about other devices, but based on behaviour it doesn't seem like an intentional feature as if u exit the app and reopen it, it goes back to portrait. Hope this helps someone.

      There's an easier way to "semi-lock" most landscape apps that conform to Apple's design guidelines: Turn the device sideways so it switches to landscape, then turn another 90-degrees so the charging port is pointing away from the floor/ground. You can use the app while laying sideways and it will stay in landscape mode.
