iOS 6.1 was released to the public by Apple just minutes ago, and already, iOS hackers are hard at work doing what they do best – hacking iOS. Planetbeing has Tweeted that he has noticed the public release of iOS 6.1 and has mentioned that he and the other hackers are looking into the update as of this writing.
MuscleNerd confirmed earlier today that 22 different variants of iOS 6.1 devices would be supported by the jailbreak when it is released. This includes the new iPhone 5, iPod touch 5G, iPad Mini, iPad (fourth-generation), and numerous older iOS devices that can run iOS 6.1 (check our post for the full list). The only device that wouldn’t see support for an iOS 6.1 untethered jailbreak at this point in time is the Apple TV 3.
Now that the public version of iOS 6.1 is in the hands of the evad3rs, the iOS hackers can work on creating a tool that can jailbreak iOS 6.1, getting all the bugs worked out, and finally releasing an untethered jailbreak for iOS 6 for the first time since its launch in 2012.
It’s only a matter of time now folks! Please remain patient and continue offering positive support for the people that bring us these jailbreaks at no cost.
