  • 128GB iOS Devices Hinted in iOS 6 Beta 5 Code

Apple introduced 64GB flash storage options for iOS devices for the first time with the iPhone 4S in 2011. This seemed like a great upgrade at the time, however as media continues to evolve and higher quality media emerges, more storage is being demanded.

Code from yesterday’s iOS 6.1 Beta 5 release indicates that we might see a 128GB flash storage option in our iOS devices very soon, possibly in the upcoming iPhone 5S or future versions of the iPad.

128GB of flash storage would double the current max storage option, and would be a great way for video capturers and photographers to store their digital media on their iOS devices in larger bulk. The additional storage space would also very likely cost the buyer another $100 over the 64GB model.

Apple has brought iCloud storage options to reality as a way to store digital media in the cloud instead of on our iOS devices. The cost, however, for keeping and maintaining this cloud storage is too much for some users to bear, and so local storage would be the best option for many iOS device users.

Makes me wonder if this'll be another iPhone/iPad or if this is another apple product in the making.

It's nuts that is 100 bucks extra for the storage jump In each model. Isn't just a couple bucks to make the storage go from a 8-16 and so on or am I wrong?

That's just the writer speculating it will cost another $100.

Apple.... you seriously haven't heard of Micro SD cards? Or do you think even they are a security threat like adobe flash? I would never buy a 900$-1200$ unlocked phone. I've had iPhones since the 3rd genertation and have always wanted an option of external memory cards.
Without a jailbreak... (iOS7 might just be even more harder to crack!).... I guess its time to move on to an Android based phone.
I've always hated android... cuz I managed to get all the widgets I wanted... with the help of Cydia... no Cydia = No more iPhone for me... and probably for many others too...
I would only go for such an expensive phone if I can extend my warranty for 1 + 2 more years... otherwise its just not worth it (unless you're filthy rich!! lol)

Apple is going to have to "innovate" a lot more than this to not fall hopelessly behind Android. I'm hoping the JB guys they hired months back are actively developing new features.
