  • New Concept Adds a Toggle Drawer to the Lock Screen

A new iOS concept has appeared on the interwebz by Jean-Marc Denis and it makes accessing important toggles super simple. Since many people like to toggle things on or off depending on whether theyíre in use or not, itís very strange that Apple hasnít yet come with a native solution for allowing users to easily enable and disable features without having to navigate through preference panes in the Settings application.

The conceptís solution? Ė Add a toggle drawer to the lock screen:

As shown in the video above, the concept adds another grabber to the lock screen, this one right under the lock screenís clock. Dragging down on it reveals four toggles Ė Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, and Personal Hotspot. When the toggles are disabled, they appear grayed out. When the toggles are enabled, they appear to glow blue, similarly to IntelliScreenX's toggles.

When the user receives notifications that populate the lock screen, the toggle drawer will be hidden, but the grabber will appear at the bottom of the notification list. The user can again pull down on the grabber to show the toggle drawer, and the notifications will slide down with it.

The toggle drawer uses Appleís glassy lock screen style, so it blends in well with its surroundings. The lock screen is also a very easy place to get to, so if youíre in a meeting or in class and you donít want to be distracting, you can simply get to your lock screen to enable or disable features, such as Airplane Mode to silence all alerts, and then put your iPhone back in your pocket in no time at all.

Would you want a feature like this?

Crazy how people can come up with these concepts but apple can't.

I really wish Apple would just give us the option to jailbreak legitimately. Make us would be Jailbreakers pay for a dev account so it's explicit that we know what we are doing. Would really kill android's customization claim to fame.

      Totally agree!

iOS needs a rewrite from the ground up! It's outdated and ancient and not very innovative!

I run Lock Info and it is superb - if one Dev can think of that why can't Apple?

Also not to bring up androids notification system but why can't apple keep the symbol in the status bar until u clear it. But hey it's apple not android. Maybe one day.

how is if something strange? I've been an iPhone user since the first iPhone but I do have to admit apple's first interest is not the people. It's business. They are saving that feature for a future iOS and make it look like oh wow... "The best thin yet"

      +100

Yeah apple can throw every feature in their phone but they don't want too. Why not? Because then they'd be just like android.

Samsung can., this "concept" is a straight up rip off from what's already a standard feature running on Samsung devices.

Uh not really, that doesn't look like any lock screen I've ever seen. Nice try though.

You mean android can. Which is also false but giving samesong credit for the os is pretty funny. Google android. See what comes up. (Pun , sarcasm, and irony all intended)

It looks nice, but SBSettings does the same thing.

It's a big difference in execution.

      And SBSettings is pretty bulky.

I never understood why there are so many concept videos and pics as Apple never do anything the public wants.
Apple just steal ideas of elsewhere then patented that idea first then sue the original creator of that idea.

Yea, so the concept pics would be nice if they were implemented into IOS but they wont ever.

Because Apple knows what we want more than we know what we want. Just accept that you want Helvetica and grey linen. Forever.
