Tim Cook Quietly Returns to China for Talks
Apple CEO Tim Cook is back in China at the moment, marking his second trip to the world's most populous mobile community in the last ten months. News of Cook's latest visit comes as Apple dramatically expands its retail presence in the nation.
Since Cook's March 2012 Chinese excursion, Apple's retail footprint has expanded from six stores to eleven across China. While there is still ample room for additional growth, Apple continues to sell millions of iDevices to China's increasingly mobile tech-savvy consumer base.
Few details surrounding Cook's visit are known, but it has been reported that Cook is meeting Tuesday with Miao Wei, head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Bloomberg reports that the two individuals will discuss "the development of China’s information technology industry, global mobile communications and Apple’s business in China."
A spokesperson for Apple didn't offer any additional details on Cook's trip, it's duration, or other planned objectives for the visit.
