  • Five Neat WinterBoard Themes for Changing the Face of Siri

For those of you that have access to Siri on your jailbroken devices, whether it be one with Spire, or pre-installed like the iPhone 4S, chances are you might be using some jailbreak tweaks to make Siri do some more stuff than she already can stock. One way to be creative with Siri if you’re jailbroken is to apply a great-looking WinterBoard theme.

In this article, we show you five themes for Siri that we thought were cool. They’re in no specific order, and there may or may not be even better themes out there that we have yet to discover. Take a look at some of the themes for Siri that we have enjoyed. The list includes both paid and free themes.

    1. Neurotech Siri – By Jahooba

Neurotech Siri is a unique theme for Siri. It changes the icon of the microphone, the background of the Siri interface, and also the outline of the dialogue bubbles between you and Siri. Priced at only $1.00, you get a wonderfully animated theme that the developer touts to have nearly 300 frames of fluid information contained within.

The theme was produced in a 3-D modeling program, ensuring that it would come out professionally done and beautiful. The dark-gradient wallpaper that the theme gives Siri compliments the new microphone icon and the animations it comes with. This wallpaper also helps make those white-outlined dialogue bubbles pop out at you.

You will notice that all of the interfaces in Siri, such as those that appear when you ask for weather, math problem answers, or even the time in other locations are also themed to look differently. If you're interested in Neurotech Siri, you'll find it for $1.00 on the ModMyi repository in Cydia.

Neurotech Siri comes with a free bonus Ultrafuse HD theme for the battery icon on the lock screen while charging.

    2. Neurocube Siri – By Jahooba

Neurocube Siri is another unique theme for Siri. This theme takes after Neurotech in many respects, however it is also very different in many other respects. You will see that the interfaces for weather, answers to math problems, and even times in other locations look exactly like those in Neurotech Siri. The major differences are in the Microphone icon and the background of Siri.

The background is very dark, almost all throughout. The only lighting effect is at the bottom of the screen where the microphone is; putting emphasis on the amazing animations you’ll see when you start talking to Siri. These animations include nearly 300 frames of fluid animation as the cube basically moves with your voice and then slides apart in opposite directions when you finish.

A white outline surrounds the entire interface unlike in Neurotech Siri, which some may like or dislike, however the white on black helps make everything pop out more and puts focus where it should be. If you're interested in Neurocube Siri, you'll find it for $1.00 on the ModMyi repository in Cydia.

    3. A ChalkBoard Siri – By Zachchilders

A ChalkBoard Siri turns your Siri interface into a chalkboard-like voice assistant. It includes all kinds of details, including a chalkboard background, an animated chalk microphone, and chalky interfaces for the queries Siri fetches for you, such as the weather or the time of a specific location.

What we thought was really creative are the chalk scribblings right next to the microphone icon, which says, “How may I help,” and “Hello.” The wooden trim around the whole chalkboard interface adds some nice color, and a very intimate feel. The microphone's animation features the same animation as the original Siri microphone icon, however with chalk instead of purple light!

As an unnamed designer said to us, this theme would be really cool in the school environment simply because of the appearance of it. We tend to agree! A ChalkBoard Siri can be had for free from the ModMyi repository in Cydia, check it out!

    4. Greenpois0n Siri Theme – By Alex_Dev

Greenpois0n Siri Theme is another neat theme for Siri, taking more of a minimalistic approach. It replaces the Siri microphone with the Greenpois0n logo and all dialogue bubbles as well as quotation marks will now have a green outline around them. The green color looks great on Apple’s linen background, might we add!

The actual Greenpois0n logo lights up with an eerie green as you speak, and the eyes also glow. It’s really cool looking when you see it in action – pictures really can't do it justice. When you finish speaking, a green loading animation replaces the stock purple loading animation that swirls around the microphone.

This theme won't change any of Apple's interfaces, such as the weather interface, time interface, and WolframAlpha interface, however since the theme keeps Apple's stock linen background, everything fits together well. For those of you that used Greenpois0n to jailbreak your iOS 4.2.1 devices in the past, show some patriotism! This theme can be had from the ModMyi repository in Cydia absolutely free.

    5. Siri9000 Theme by Triss – By triss

Anyone that’s a Space Odyssey fan will appreciate this. Siri9000 Theme by Triss attempts to bring a HAL 9000-like interface to Siri. The microphone icon becomes that iconic camera eye with the red glow in the center, which dims and brightens intelligently as you speak to Siri.

The background stays linen-like, however you can see that the developer added a lighting effect to resemble HAL 9000. We’re 50/50 on the looks of the background, however this theme does something that all of the rest above do not. It comes with UISounds that can be activated on your own (they don't work upon the initial install) so that you can hear HAL’s voice every time you invoke Siri or attempt to ask a question.

Apart from the background and microphone change, all of your interfaces such as weather, WolframAlpha queries, and times in different locations will appear the way Apple intended them to. It also does not change any of the dialogue bubble outlines. If you want to grab this theme, you can download it absolutely free from the ModMyi repository in Cydia.

Hopefully, this list has helped you find something neat to add to your jailbroken and Siri-capable iOS device. If we’ve missed any neat-looking Siri themes that you’ve been using, feel free to share them in the comments below so we and others can try them out!

LOL I feel you man. I'm used to being able to download all of these tweaks in an instant, but now I'm limited to what Apple has to offer through the App Store. I hope an untethered solution comes soon.

      Good article.

Aren't these themes all a little old by now though? Definitely a slow down in the jailbreak scene with no current jailbreak

Saying that there appears to be a "slowdown" in the scene since we've been left without an operable untethered j/b since a while now (feels like years, but if my memory serves me well its really been about six or eight weeks by now) seems like the understatement of 2012 to me. I know, I know, I'm being dramatic but in all seriousness I can say for certain that the only reason for not buying the latest hardware like a fanboy is because of the current state of affairs. In fact, on a recent trip to Vegas I lost my phone somewhere (4S untethered/unlocked/jail broken) and didn't think what a big deal it would result in to me -- since, I purchased another 4S not realizing that I wouldn't be able by any means to get it to the same great state my old handset was in. I am having very muh difficulty comprehending that there is no method of jail breaking available in any form for the 4S handset, not to mention the latest handset.

I do have a question though, which is that is there not some method for registered Appe Developers to somehow circumvent the protections in place in order to get a single registered handset on the valid account jailbroken?! I know that the reason given by the geniuses that have been working on jail breaking for the masses (God bless them) for not releasing their currently working method is that in some way, shape, or form releasing the method infringes onthe membership agreement that Apple Developers must abide by to not be in violation of their accepted EULA. Anyone able to fill me in on how to go about this method? I am not looking to share it with anyone, but rather to salvage my relationship with my apple products. Against my better judgement I have recently been considering an Android-based device due to the fact that my Apple handset has suddenly lost its ability to keep my interest as it used to. At least the Android handsets are root-able with relative ease.

I am bewildered by the fact that, in absence of a solution by our great team of devs, no exploit has "conveniently" been leaked by insiders at Apple in order to keep the cat&mouse game we've been watching between Apple and j/b'ers for years now alive and thriving. It's such ********. I think that, if I'm not alone in the way I feel here, that Apple is losing plenty of sales on newly released hardware due to the inability to jailbreak the devices at this time. If I were them, somehow I'd ensure that the exploit was outed to those in the position to make use of it to keep what I used to really love about m iPhone alive and well.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just frustrated and in disbelief that I'm actually at the point of considering an Android after my extended love affair with iOS-based devices.

I have both Jahooba Themes and Siri9000. They're all AWESOME but I think NeuroCube takes the prize!

At this point I would gladly pay up to $100 for a tethered jailbreak for my iPhone 5.....I just don't see it happening . Started shopping for a replacement Android device earlier today. Probably be back on Android and flashing ROM's before New Years because I just can't handle the drought any more.

It will actually be easier to create an untethered jailbreak than a tethered jailbreak because the tethered jailbreak requires a bootrom exploit, where an untethered jailbreak can use a number of different kinds of exploits.

It will come eventually. I don't know if you read a recent interview with pod2g, however he plans to come back to the hacking scene after his work calms down this year and strongly feels a jailbreak will be out within six months.
