  • Facebook Releases New Poke App in the App Store

Facebook has launched yet another free application in the iOS App Store to compliment the main Facebook application on iOS devices. This one is called Facebook Poke and you can grab it from this link if you’d like to.

The application allows you to poke your friends, but it’s much more in-depth than that. You can poke your friends with photos and videos, and even control how long they can see it with a special timer. From the application, you’ll also be able to view and respond to pokes from your friends by tapping and holding on them as well as the ones you dish out.

The application comes with a built-in video and photograph feature, which can be accessed from the bottom of the screen. Each one has its own interface. From the button that looks like Apple's messages icon, you'll be able to send a message with your poke instead of a video or photograph.

To begin a poke to one of your friends, download the free application and tap on the poke button at the bottom of the screen to get started. The application seems goofy for most Facebook users, but some people might have fun playing around with the application with their friends.

Why can't they just implement it to the main app. Work smarter not lazier just saying

About the only use I can foresee is... erm, salacious, scandalous, and super saucy.

its clearly just an app to compete with SnapChat. Both apps are not worth downloading

I agree. It's just Facebook capitalizing off of being Facebook.

They could put all the Facebook apps into one so why make 4? Is there only 4 or another app I'm missing?
This app is more like an addon to the main Facebook app so its really stupid to have it as a standalone app.
Even the messenger app is kinda pointless as the main Facebook app has messenger built into it already.
I can see having the pictures app separate but its still not needed.

Facebook is everything twitter is, except Facebook offers more features. Twitter is just a place where people can post their stupid sh** like what they're eating etc. #twitterisstupid

      Um, not really.

Twitter is a news feed, which has retweet and favorite buttons that basically mirror Facebook's like and share buttons.

I've been using Twitter for a pretty long time. I've never seen someone Tweet about what they eat. You're thinking more along the lines of Instagram.

But I'll tell you I've definitely seen people post unimportant information on Facebook.

Only thing that sucks is a friend poked me on facebook and not only did it not alert me but my friend doesn't even show up in my friends list. I do like some of the features though.

Complement. They are complementary to each other.
