Google Will Reportedly Launch Google Maps iOS App Tonight
After the long time disappointment from many users due to Apple’s mapping solution replacing Google Maps for iOS in iOS 6, the wait to get a Google Maps application on your iPhone may finally be over. AllThingsD
reports that Google is set to release their official Google Maps application in the App Store tonight.
The Google Maps application has been in its beta stages
for several weeks now and was distributed to testers to make sure the application worked correctly before officially releasing it. Images of the application were leaked in its alpha stages
just two months ago, showing a Google-esque interface.
Should the application become available in the App Store tonight, it is expected to be free. It should offer more features than are available in the Web application, which is all that iOS 6 users have been able to use apart from the stray handful of third party Google Maps applications that land in the App Store and ended up getting pulled
. That's not to say that every single one has been pulled, however.
There has been worry from the Google side of the fence that the application may not pass the App Store’s approval process, so it should be interesting to see if the application becomes available as it is expected to be. We will update you if the application becomes available.
Google Maps is now available for iOS for free in the App Store from this link
