In a recent announcement, the Sundance Film Festival revealed that the jOBS biopic starring Ashton Kutcher will premiere on the last day of the event (which happens to run from January 17 to January 27). The film is said to take the honor of being the event’s closing film.
It was originally spotted by The Verge, the Sundance release noted jOBS, will be a “Closing night film,” and will chronicle the defining years of Apple cofounder Steve Jobs.
For those of you who don’t know, the cast includes Kutcher in the role of Jobs, Ahna O’Reilly as Jobs’ ex-girlfriend, Chris-Ann Brennan; and Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak. Other cast members include Matthew Modine as former Apple CEO John Sculley and an unknown actor will be playing Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
One thing that should be clarified is that there are currently two Steve Jobs biographical films in the works. One is being written by Aaron Sorkin and the other starring Ashton Kutcher. Although many anticipate the Sorkin film to be a huge success, jOBS (the film starring Kutcher) seems to have some mixed pre-conceived notions, which will hopefully be proven wrong.
