Apple Confirms Media Event for Moscow
Apple is planning a media event in Russia. And sources in Moscow believe that Apple will use the occasion to formally unveil iTunes in a nation where, until now, the Apple-branded digital store hasn't yet become a mainstay.
A source inside of Russia asserts that Apple has begun sending invites to only a select few (mostly media people) in Russia, asking them to attend the event, which is scheduled for tomorrow - Tuesday, December 4th. In true Apple fashion, the announcement will take place in Moscow’s high-profile and high-end Red Square.
Although Apple's international growth strategy often prompts tech journalists to concentrate on China, India, and other key markets - mostly located in Asia - the fact remains that Russia is a huge market with equally huge potential for growth when it comes to Apple's products and services. Analysts believe that the launch of iTunes in Russia could spark a significant buying wave of Apple hardware across the sprawling nation.
For now, Apple won't comment on the nature of tomorrow's event. But with rumors having persisted for months that iTunes is coming to Russia, that very announcement won't surprise many if it finally takes place on Tuesday.
