    After a month of being delayed due to the hopes of making the release as bug-free and great as possible, and acting in agreement with yesterday’s rumor of an iTunes 11 release today, iTunes 11 is now finally available for the public to download and enjoy for both Windows and Mac OS X.

    iTunes 11 gets a new application icon with the same color scheme as the Mac App Store icon. The whole application receives a facelift, as well, making the whole iTunes store look much cleaner. iTunes 11 now also allows you to play your music, movies, and other purchases from iCloud without the need to have it downloaded to your iTunes library, however you can still download the files to your computer to play while offline.

    More interesting features include an “Up Next” feature, which gives you the ability to see what is going to be playing next by clicking on a new button. There is also a redesigned mini player for listening to music, a new playback syncing feature, and an improved search too. The playback syncing means you can start a movie on one device, and iCloud will remember where you left off so you can continue it on another device.

    The iTunes 11 update requires an Intel Mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later, with at least 400MB of free storage space. You can download the new iTunes 11 from this link, or you can launch Software Update on your Mac from the  menu, or via Apple Software Update on a Windows machine. Download times will vary depending on your Internet performance.

      Looks nice. Haven't had a chance to really play with it yet though.

      Apple also released updates to there Remote app for ios devices. Stay away as the new version of the App caused both of my ATV's to get stuck in a reboot loop. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with my ATV's being jailbroken, but the update renders the app and the ATV'suseless.

      I do like how that changed how the user manages multiple divides. Nice!

      i for one like the updated iTunes. It honestly NEEDED a refresh.

      EDIT:

      Now i could have been completely oblivious, but was there a "Radio" in the older iTunes? I see it now.

      I think it's great. Only issue I have is my back button doesn't function in the store. Worked fine before the update, but with the new look and ease of use. I can live with it. So far I have to say Well done Apple.

      I kinda like the new look, at least for me it loads faster and doesn't freeze while it scans the iphone. Also it is jailbreak safe, but I have and iphone 4 and ios 5.1.1 so i don't know about everything else.

      Holy crap this is slow! Before anyone asks, I have a rather highend PC. While my music files are stored on a traditional hard drive, my applications and windows are stored on a SSD. That also means my iTunes library files (ie "iTunes Library.itl") are also run off this SSD. Everything should be lightning (see what I did there?) fast, but it's not! I have a huge library (60,000+) and searching for a track literally goes one letter at a time. For example, if I'm searching for Bjork it does this: B... (1 second) ... J... (1 second) ... O... I think you get the idea. I realize that Match is limited to 25,000 non-iTunes tracks, but some of us music hoarders have large libraries and that's why we use iTunes. Heck, I started using iTunes when the second generation iPod came out and didn't own a single Apple product for the next two years. I just like iTunes' organization and now it's whacked! Additionally I can only use the column browser in a few categories and that has always been my go to item. Worse still it no longer saves your place in a search if you jump to another playlist then back again.
