Skype for iOS Updated With Animated Emoticons, Message Editing, and More
Skype has really improved their iOS application today in a new update to version 4.2. The application now has some great new features, such as being able to create a Skype account right from the application, being able to chat with your Messenger, Hotmail, and Outlook contacts, and the ability to edit saved phone numbers right from the dial pad.
On a more exciting note, the application now supports animated emoticons, just like those in the Mac OS X version of the Skype application, on all retina display devices. They can be accessed by the emoticon button in the chat bar. These emoticons will move and give more meaning to your messages than the older still emoticons that lacked animation:
Additionally, the Skype update includes the ability to edit messages that you send from the iOS application by holding down on them. From the copy and paste menu, youíll be able to tap on an Edit button and it will bring you to an interface where you can edit the message you send and save your changes for the conversation:
Apart from these wonderful improvements, Skype also loads quicker and many bug fixes were implemented to make the application much more pleasant to use. Youíll also notice that the Status Bar is just a little darker than it used to be, so itís much easier to see the information in the Status Bar now.
Existing users can grab the update from the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, you can download the application from this link
