Barclays Purchases 8,500 iPads
Barclays purchased 8,500 iPads in what is thought to be the largest corporate rollout of the device in the UK according to the The Register.
Barclays reportedly investigated a number of other tablet options, but decided on the iPad “to assist our branch colleagues to interact with customers, improving the customer experience.”
Microsoft’s rollout of the Windows 8 and the accompanying tablets did little to sway Barclays despite being more “enterprise friendly.” Barclays intends to use the app called Mortgage Brain, which was created and is owned by six different banks including Barclays.
While there is no confirmation on which model Barclays purchased, if the company purchased the cheapest iPad mini it would have cost over two million pounds. Barclays reportedly made the purchase through dealer Insight UK.
