Unless you’ve been living in a cave without power, Internet, and iOS devices, you probably know about the rather popular new Game Center-based word and strategy game called Letterpress that everyone is playing now. It's free, with limited features, and includes a 99¢ in-app purchase that can unlock more content. The game has received its first update today to version 1.1.
To begin, the game now gives the user the ability to turn game sounds on or off from the Settings. They game’s sounds are generally rather quiet, but the new option is a nice feature to have for situations where you don’t want to make any noise. You’ll also see that you can now send Game Center friend requests directly from the application – yes, friend requests, not just game invites.

Another part of the major update is the ability to now rematch your friends after one game has ended. It used to be that you needed to manually invite your friend to another match, but with this new rematch button, it’s as simple as a single tap. This feature requires iOS 6 to use.

Other improvements to the game include:
- An improved word dictionary
- Improved performance when tapping on letter tiles quickly
- A working Facebook share option
- A fix to the problem that sometimes made the game forget you purchased the in-app content
- Better server handling to hopefully reduce Game Center errors
- Improved game syncing between devices
If you haven’t already downloaded Letterpress, we recommend giving it a try. It’s free and fun. If you already have Letterpress, you can find the update from the Updates tab in the App Store. Go and grab it!
