While many people have a bone to pick with the iOS Skype application for being buggy, ad-ridden, and ugly, the app is still showing that it can keep up with Apple’s latest technology. Today, the Skype application gets support for the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G's four-inch display.
It has been quite a while now since the iPhone 5 launch and some major applications are just now getting support for the new display. Spotify also just recently got an update for the new display.

With support for the four-inch display, Skype just looks better. There are no more black letterbox bars at the top and bottom of the application and you can see more content at a glance, such as your contacts list and conversation threads. In addition, the four-inch display looks great in Skype video calls, because you can now see more of the background in the video.
Apart from the support for the new display, Skype claims to have shoved in some bug fixes with the update, which are certainly welcome judging the current condition of the application.
Skype for iOS can still be pretty laggy on older iOS devices, but it’s butter smooth on the iPhone 5. It’s available as a free update and you can snag it from this link.
