AT&T is making a bold move in the tablet space, becoming the first U.S. wireless carrier to subsidize the price of the iPad with a two-year contractual agreement. The carrier outlined its plan Friday in an announcement that is closely modeled after the sales structure we've all come to know with regard to the iPhone.
Beginning today, customers will receive $100 off any tablet purchased at an AT&T company owned store or online with a two-year data plan agreement.
Here's a quick look at what the tablet data plans look like:
AT&T Mobile Share: $10 to share between 1 GB and 20GB
AT&T DataConnect 250MB: $15 for 250MB
AT&T DataConnect 3GB: $30 for 3GB
AT&T DataConnect 5GB: $50 for 5GB
In case you were wondering, I have to be the bearer of bad news here. Even if you're a longtime unlimited data subscriber, you will not be allowed to get around the data plans outlined above.
