  • Quake 3: Arena on iPad at full 1024x768 Native Resolution
    Hi, after a bit of tweaking I've got The iPhone port of Quake 3 running on the iPad at it's native resolution of 1024x768.

    Here's some comparison photos:



    Just download and install the iPhone Quake 3 port through Cydia (in the ModMyi.com repo). Then navigate to the var/mobile/Library/Quake3/ folder using iFile or SSH and edit the q3config.cfg. Delete everything currently there and paste in the following and save:

    Don't forget to save those changes!

    Once you've done this install Full Force in Cydia and set it to "on" for Quake 3.

    Return to your SpringBoard and launch you iPad native Quake 3 in all it's glory :-)

    Now it will run at native iPad resolution and quite a nice frame rate :-)

    Using FullForce alone has the game run, but only at a stretched low iPhone resolution.

      Won't do any good. The files are there. They are built in to the level packs (pk3 files). Rename them .zip and you will see.

      Very true about some of the effects missing. For one the animated lighting effects on the jump pads I noticed almost immediatley. Regardless this is an incredibly awesome proof of concept. With bt mouse/keyboard support this would be very playable. I for one drool at the prospect of blasting some high precision railgun shots on q3dm17 multiplayer from my ipad! Practical? No. Awesomely geeky? Yea.

      Wow, the HD port made the scene change too, where has the stairs gone , would of been better to compare the same shot normaly Vs HD !

      It was not difficult at all. Install the app, SSH to upload the games, and launch.

      It's possible.

      But, the scripts and configuration needs to be modified to use Bluetooth.

      did anyone come up with good controls. game looks good its one of my all time favorite games, but its way to hard to control.
