  • MuscleNerd reveals that the iPad mini is Already Jailbroken

Shortly after the iPad mini was officially released to the public, the device was already jailbroken. MuscleNerd recently tweeted a screenshot of him obtaining root access to the newly released Apple tablet. Although such proof shows that a jailbreak is capable on the device, unfortunately it is far from reach for the general public.

According to MuscleNerd, he used the same “failbreak” method that Chpwn used to jailbreak the iPhone 5 to gain root access to the mini. To those of you who don’t remember, the failbreak method was the term Chpwn used to describe a jailbreak that can’t be released to the public due to the fact that it was complicated process. This means that you shouldn't get too excited just yet.

The good news here is that the jailbreak developers are working on releasing a public-friendly iteration of the jailbreak soon. It should only be a matter of time before we see jailbreaks for both the iPhone 5 and iPad mini along with other older iOS devices as well. Stay tuned for more information regarding the matter.

Oh I agree they have deep pockets - just no way to 'enforce' their will even with this 'law'. Impossible to track a tablet's JB state (or at all for that matter) - especially for those of us who use an 'altered name' and PO BOX when registering our i-stuff with said 'deep-pocketed' company.

Its probably the jailbreak that does not include Cydia. No offense but whats the point. There is already a 6.0 tethered jailbreak. Am i missing something here? Looks like a lot of feedback for old news IMHO.

I guess you have not heard with
Ios6 because of the new API system
That was made for AppStore apps
We are connected to apple's servers
And apple now have a new patent
      On REMOTE ACCESS for idevices
So they can disable our **** if they wanted to

Exactly. And that's why the hype of this story is just pure nonsense.

HA! Yes, my double negative was meant to be LEGAL followed by illegal. thx...now corrected...

Are you suggesting they might lock a device remotely if it is JB? Holy crap, cant imagine what can worms that would open? I am betting JB is more popular outside of the US. The US general population seems less tech savvy than other countries??

Even if this was true, wouldn't that make it more exciting for the Devs to figure out a way to bypass it?!?! That's why they're in it...for the fun! Regardless, they'll find a way to hack it...it would just take more time.

Although we once saw a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S it's hardware hasn't been "pwned" so it does not guarantee future tethered jailbreaks. The A4 was the last to be pwned to that level.

      Correct!
People still seem to forget that the ip4S and iPad 3 exploit was a SOFTWARE exploit found in iOS 5. There never was a HARDWARE exploit found in the A5 chip so there will never be a tethered JB for those devices unless they discover one.

Since iOS 6 is a new SOFTWARE, a usable exploit must be found for the public to attain a JB on A5 & A6 devices.

      So...
      A4 chip - HARDWARE/SOFTWARE (iOS 4/5/6) = tethered/untethered

      A5 chip - SOFTWARE (iOS 5) = untethered

A6 chip - SOFTWARE (iOS 6) = Nothing *except for developer accts

Guys, Musclenerd has done this the past few device releases and it has done NO good!! He never releases a jailbreak....it's only for show. That's it! This means nothing, other than it can be done. But to you and me and other noobs, it means nothing.

I can't believe all this talk about legal and illegal !

They will never be able to stop it world wide, as if and when the exploit is discovered they will just post it on a china site for argument sake.

Just because this ruling was made in the US this does not make it a world wide ban ?

There are plenty out there that are using pirate sites to install pirate apps and I am sure Apple are loosing more money through that than they are bothered about the Jailbreak situation. Granted if they stop Jailbreaking then they will stop the pirates. But I don't this will ever happen. And I don't think Apple will be stupid enough to try and stop people Jailbreaking as there wold loose millions to Android devices. Because if we were honest how many of us would be with Apple if we could not Jailbreak ?

      Just my opinion

Ok here is a tweet from musclenerd himself stating that jail breaking an iPad is illegal.
      https://twitter.com/MuscleNerd/statu...15045732085760

Anywho you guys that are say there will still be a jailbreak for the iPads coming out for iOS 6 you have lost your mind.

Your right there isn't away to track down ( as far I know) a jailbroken device. But there is away to track down Devs that make the tools to perform the jailbreak.
Hell there are only a handful of them in the world right now working on it. Making it easy for Apple or who ever to sue (spelled it right that time ) them for releasing the tool to jail break iPads.
