  • Replace Redundant Keyboard Keys With Emojis Using 'QuickEmoji'

    When using the iOS keyboard, you may have noticed that between the extra symbols keyboard and the numbers keyboard, the second to last row of keys is exactly the same. Being that this is a redundant set of keys, a clever iOS developer by the name of iAmharic thought it would be useful to replace this row of keys with Emojis! The new tweak is free and it's called QuickEmoji.

    As shown above, the whole row is completely replaced by Emojis only on the extra symbol keyboard. When you return to the number keyboard, the keys return to their defaults: . , ? ! '

    The tweak looks like it only supports those five Emojis shown in the screenshot above at first glance, but if you hold down on each key, you will find that the tweak actually lets you select an Emoji from a huge group to be used, which we think is pretty cool:



    Another cool part of QuickEmoji is that you don’t have to have the Emoji keyboard enabled from the keyboard options in the Settings application. It’s optional, although we would recommend enabling it because the Emoji keyboard holds more Emoji icons than QuickEmoji does.

    QuickEmoji will appear anywhere that Emojis are supported, such as the Notes application, Messages application, Twitter, and much more. It's perfect for all those text-a-holics out there.

    QuickEmoji will work with the QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, and HEBREW keyboard layouts. The tweak has no options to configure and it goes to work as soon as you install it. If you love using Emojis, we can recommend this tweak to you. It’s free, so you have nothing to lose from trying it!

      It's cool because it's quick access to Emojis without needing to have the Emoji keyboard enabled. It's nice to have it built into one keyboard.

      Also, the fact that it's built into the symbols keyboard makes sense. Emojis are small images that can be treated like symbols. There's no need to see the same keys in two separate keyboard views in my opinion.

      Tried it out and uninstalled it in a matter of minutes... It's a good idea... I just found it quicker to push one button to change the keyboard to the emoji keyboard with all of them available... This tweak doesn't give you all of them and adds an additional press of a key to access... Also, I noticed that when you tap these replacements to bring up the popup of symbols that you can't browse through the different key replacements without it inserting a symbol... Which then you need to delete which adds an extra step... Maybe an update in the future will dial that in and include all the emoticons...

      My bad. In the picture it says before and after, I thought that there would no longer be any punctuation available on the keyboard

      Exactly. I dont have to click twice to send a smiley face, but if i need to utilize standard punctuation its a hassle.
      I think the lesson here is, just because you can doesnt mean you should.

      EDIT: Oh wow, i overlooked that as well.

      is this tweek still available? i can't find it in cydia anymore.
      searched cydia, and looked through the bigboss repo as well...
      was it removed?

      This isn't addressing his concern at all. How are we supposed to punctuate at all now?

      It doesn't remove the punctuation buttons. It only replaces them in symbol view, not numeric view. The punctuation shows up in both views, that is why they are redundant keys.
