iOS 6 brought tinted status bars that match the surrounding colors of the application and some people are not so sure if they like it that much. For those of you that aren’t sold on that new feature, iOS hacker and developer Ryan Petrich has released a new free jailbreak tweak called AntiTint. As shown above, the tweak will disable the tinted status bar and just make it black everywhere that it would usually change colors.
AntiTint will not affect the Status Bar on the home screen, which remains a transparent object that you can see your wallpaper through.
AntiTint doesn’t come with any options to configure. It’s simply one of those barebones tweaks that are intended to do one thing and if you like it, then you install it and if you don’t like it, then you don’t install it. To disable the tweak, you will have to uninstall it from the device that you install it on.
Currently, the iOS 6 jailbreak is tethered and only supports devices with the limera1n exploit. The current version of redsn0w also will not install Cydia on your iOS 6 device. If you want to install the tweak via SSH (redsn0w installs an SSH tool on iOS 6 for you), then you can open a terminal window in your favorite SSH client such as WinSCP and run the following script:
PHP Code:
apt-get install com.rpetrich.antitint
