  • iPhone 5 Touches 5M Sales Opening Weekend, iOS 6 Up to 100M New Users

    In the first 24 hours of being available for pre-order, the iPhone 5 saw a record-shattering 2 million pre-orders from avid Apple fans. This was a large amount, but Apple has just released even more figures this morning in a press release. During the opening weekend alone, Apple sold over 5 million more iPhone 5 units to customers. Albeit 5 million units is a ton of units, it was originally expected that Apple would sell closer to 8 million units on opening weekend. Citing TUAW, falling short of the expected numbers is likely because of being short on supplies.

    Neither come as a large surprise, as iOS 6 and the iPhone 5 both come with great new features that make their predecessors look less impressive. iOS 6 brings over 200 new features to iOS devices and the iPhone 5 brings exciting new technology such as 4G LTE support, a larger 4-inch display, a faster processor, and more powerful graphics.

    Figures are expected only to climb in the future, as some people may be holding off on buying the iPhone 5 until all of the problems with it have been dealt with. Buyers have been reporting an issue where brand new devices come right out of the box with scuff marks from what appears to be a flawed production process.

      My black 32g ip5 came with several small marks on the edges of the back. Barely noticeable so whatever.

      Also I feel the battery life is total garbage. Even with LTE disabled. And I did not setup the phone from a backup.

      I will try a full reformat this week and see if the battery is better.


      Overall it's a great phone. Hopefully a software update fixes battery issues.

      Maybe you got a faulty unit? I get excellent battery life. 3hrs more usage than my 4s. 4s Would get 6.75 hours and on my iPhone 5 I get 9-10 hours usage (not standby of actual usage )

      I got about 10 hrs the first day over the last 2 days i get about 6 hrs...pure crap

      Just went through an entire work day. Blue tooth on. Lte on. And now I'm at home with 60 percent battery.

      Hands down best battery apple has put in a product

      How much usage do you put in your phone? I did it from backup so I don't know if I'm having a bit of issue with it. I turned lte off and I have about 5.5 hours of usage and sitting at 23% battery. I think I'm not getting as good battery as I would expect. Might have to restore and start from new.
