  • Apple Releases Figures: 2 Million iPhone 5 Units Sold in First 24 Hours

    Just on Friday, the first day of the iPhone 5 pre-orders, an Apple spokeswoman announced in the middle of the day that the company was "blown away" by the consumer response from the iPhone 5.

    As it appears, Apple was fully justified to have said this, as the company appears to have seen more than two million units pre-ordered in the first 24 hours of being made available to consumers. This figure shatters the record of the iPhone 4S' pre-order sales, which Apple reports as having been about one million.

    This morning, AT&T released a statement confirming that the iPhone 5 was the best-selling iPhone of all time for them. The number of iPhone 5 units ordered from AT&T is included in this two million-unit figure, as well as iPhone 5 units from other carriers allowing consumers to pre-order the device, such as Verizon.

    If you’re planning to pre-order the iPhone 5, act fast. Shipping dates may continue to slip as high demand viciously attacks Apple’s initial supply.

      I agree i have the ip4 and skipped the 4S. but i'm not buying until the jailbreak comes out. my iphone is my castle and i like it the way i want it. apple does a great job and i would have one reguardless of a jailbreak, but a jailbreak is what gets me immersed into the iphone so until then i'll keep fiddeling with my ip4.

      Seriously, Ever hear of anyone lining up to buy a Droid? You won't. Hate all you want but there's a reason Apple is one of the strongest company's in world history. Driven by sheep? I think not. Driven by class A products and engineering, that's a huge YES. It's not about being a fan of Apple, but being a fan of great products that keep getting better and better by listening to their customers. Their customer service is the best you'll find in any company for anything as well. Go try and get anything remotely close for an Android.

      The only android I'll be buying will be able to bring me Tea and crumpets, able to be strumpets, and hand me my iPhone off of the table when I'm lazy. You can also bet it' will, or "She'll" be made by Apple.

      Also, can't wait to release my new dev for the iPhone 5 with iOS 6 on Friday! I'll be letting everyone know what it is soon.. y'all be the first to know... as some of you already know.

      Over-hyped. You people will receive your phone and marvel at the looks and speed for about 10 minutes. And then it will be just another phone. Just another phone that nobody walking by you except the average die-hard fanatic will care about. And even he won't bother complimenting you for more than 8 seconds in the McDonalds lobby line.

      And then life will move on and nobody will give a crap anymore after 3 days. lol. Geez some of you really need to chill out......and this is coming from an iPhone owner.

      2 million in the first 24 hours. Numbers don't lie folks. What's so funny to me is I have so many friends that had a iPhone 4 and got the Galaxy 3 or whatever you call it. They then started talking crap about apple in spite that they are angry that they jumped the android bandwagon, then call me on Sept 14th, "DUDE I JUST PRE ORDERED THE NEW iPHONE 5!!!!" Once you get passed the just bigger screen of android, the OS is nothing. Your stuck with a boring phone. True, perfect and flawless Os... is iOS.
