  • Samsung Releases New Anti-iPhone Ads: "It Doesn't Take a Genius"

As always, Samsung is right on top of advertising their devices as the company recently unveiled its new ad, “It doesn't take a genius,” referring to the Samsung Galaxy S III being a better handset than Apple’s new iPhone 5. According to the advertisement, “The next big thing is already here.” This ad will begin to run in national and regional newspapers start tomorrow and it performs a side-by-side comparison of the two smartphones, with the Galaxy S III seeming to be superior.

One must admit that the S III might look better on paper with some of its specs being laid out: its larger screen, the better battery life, more RAM, and a longer list of features. It should be pointed out though that some of the features Samsung listed under the Galaxy S III do seem a bit padded. These include “Turn Over to Mute,” “Tilt to Zoom,” and “Shake to Update.” The argument is a bit silly as Apple products have never really been about the best technical specifications. The Cupertino California company prides itself in the combined strength of its hardware, its reliable software, and the mentality that “it just works.”

What this ad does tell everyone though is Samsung’s point of view regarding Apple. The South Korean electronics giant seems to view the iPhone as the market leader as it continues to bash Apple and its products in its advertisements. If you keep bringing up the competitor in your own advertisements, how good does it make you seem? Some food for thought!

We’ll find out if the strategy pays off for Samsung as it is currently hard to imagine the results. It’ll definitely give some consumers a few laughs here and there but what matters for the tech giants is the money and if the advertisements are giving consumers the right calls-to-action.

You can find the full advertisement below:

If your underclock something you are DECREASING it's performance to save on battery life (like if I detune my wrex I will get better gas mileage). Having an argument that in order to get normal battery on your phone you under-clock it is a dumb *** logic.

The fact is my phone does not slow down a single bit and I never close apps. You obviously have not the slightest clue on what ram is there for and how it is used. And how multitasking uses it. Do a little research on how ram is allocated. My SG3 on AOKP couldn't last an 8 hour work day if it tried.

And I could give two shits on you specs. To be honest android needs big specs to run as smooth as iOS.

Typical fandroid. All you care about is specs on a peice of paper. A true pawn of life that needs the thrill of seeing numbers to excite them.

Most apple users love there apple devices because they just run right and make sense. A VERY small amount of purple care about over and under clocking. And when your phone burns out from all that **** your doing to it. Guess you'll have a nice paperweight.

What's funny is that you hate apple so much you let it consume your life going onto apple sites and trying to prove everyone wrong. Get a clue man. It's people's preference. You will not change that because its theirs and not yours.

If Samsung was so great there fans and company wouldn't need to put so much effort into trying to prove them wrong.

I guess what in saying is be proud of your decisions. No need to troll around pro apple sites looking for reasons to remind yourself why you got an android. People that are happy with there devises tend to stay in places that discuss them with fellow fans.

But it's ok we know you are deep down upset that you have made a horrible choice and are in denial about it so much that you have to come to this site.

Ps. Obviously I'm just trolling this person. In no way am I directing this at any other person in this site. The same ol "your wrong I'm right" is getting old. People like this guy feel that millions upon millions of people are hooked into this apple spell and only buy products from them because there sheep. Like anyone who buys an apple product is a mindless person who can't think on there own.

What's ironic is the biggest apple fan (Steve jobs) is noted to be the biggest Innovator an best minds of this time.

      Well sheep on
You call your comments troll-esque? Sir, you are sadly mistaken. Every point I made to you was countered with the polar opposite response I was expecting to receive. Half of them are lies I suppose, and others are just made to give you the hot-**** factor. I'm down with it bro.

By the way, investing in a spell-checker or learning English would benefit you in the long run.

I've gotten rid of so many useless features that I do not use at all, I have maximized the wifi/data efficiency, and I've made a tone of build.prop mods. Easily get 2 days to 0%.

      .... BIG in battery consumption.

Guess the only difference is that on android you can customize out of the box rather than wait 6-8 months to jailbreak it and then have to run an "old" version of your OS because the new version's jailbreak is yet again months off.

I've traded my iPhone 4s in to get top dollar before to many people did it and I got less. But I needed a phone since I didn't have a back up and I figured I would get a S3 until the iPhone 5 comes out on the 21 and then I would buy the iPhone 5 and return this piece of crap S3 I hate it and I hate android. This leaves me missing ios and my iPhone. The only thing I do like about this phone is the larg screen. Other wise it feels so cheep. They can say well we have better specs but the phone still lags and the OS is still very jerkey. Friday can't come soon enough. I want my ios back. I figured I'd give the competition a try and what a regret.

i find it kind of annoying that fandroids always come with the arguement of "oh its the same phone as last years except upgraded ram and processor"...well what do you think the s3 is??? what revolutionary thing have then done from the s2 to the s3????

Was in same boat as you. After a couple weeks I hated the phone so much I traded straight up a barely used s3 for a used 4s lol.

Also I might add that the sound output from the s3 is pure utter crap!! I have a high end stereo in my car and wow I was so disappointed at the quality playback through Bluetooth.

And ICS is such a pile that there touch wiz lock screen doesn't even have music controls on it. Talk about a fail

On Android side, I've owned an OG EVO, an EVO 3D, a Galaxy s2, a Galaxy nexus, a Galaxy note, and most recently, a Galaxy s3. I just returned my galaxy s3 and pre-ordered my iPhone 5. Here's the main difference, imo, and why I'm choosing iOS for the moment. Android is great if you want to work real hard to make it great, with some exceptions that I'm sick of dealing with. Vanilla Android, like what comes stock on a nexus device is nice and custom ROM's are great too. The problem with all of them, as someone already mentioned, is that just when you think you've got the perfect set up, you download an app and realize it's not compatible. Or, an app that was working fine a minute ago suddenly forces closes. Its REALLY frustrating. So, you read up on forums, ask questions, find a fix and apply it, but alas--the "fix" breaks something else. And you have to start all over again. What I love and miss about iOS is that you don't need a custom ROM. Everything works perfectly. Plus when switching devices, you don't have to worry about compatibility.

Aside from this, you cannot compare build quality. iPhone wins every time. It feels so damn good in your hands. Not sure what manufacturers using Android's OS don't get about this. Plastic sucks. Period. Finally, if you like gaming (like me), Android is really gonna piss you off. Games don't work accross all devices. The best games only work on Tegra-chip devices. On iOS they pretty much all work (except for iPad only games, which, correct me if I'm wrong, aren't many). Just to top it off, if you enjoy using a lot of custom ROMs be careful about your games saves. I don't know how many I've lost when jumping from one rom to another. I know there are apps that save them but they're not perfect.

The only thing that kept me from coming back to iOS sooner was the 3.5" inch screen size and lack of 4G. IMO, Apple has knocked it out of the park with iPhone 5. Thank God they don't come out with something every other month, like on Android. It really sucks when you spend all your money on the "best" only to have it not be the best anymore next month.

Android has some nice things about it. Customization is out of this world. If you like tinkering with your device (A LOT), then maybe give it a shot. I'm not saying I'll never own an Android device again, I'm just saying that for now, iOS is where I wanna be.

BTW, Samsung IS ridiculous. With every ad they put out I hate them more. And it's true, most of the features they threw in to the Galaxy s3 are useless.
+1000 i've always said to many fandroids that are friends of mine. it all comes down to preference. i always make the comparision of mac os x and linux. sure you can have linux free and tinker with it all you want. but i love os x. its simple to use and looks gorgeous. linux to me (no matter what distro) always ends up feeling like its stuck in the 80s. i love simplicity over customization. but again, it comes down to preference. and dont knock me for MY preference and call me mindless simply because i dont choose YOUR brand (and believe me i've tried android and its just not for me).

Dude the whole thing is revolutionary you didn't know that???? Lmao I mean they are the first to do a phone with a curved plastic back right? (Guess the 3g doesn't count). The only reason phone needs 2gb of ram is because android multitasking needs it. iOS knows how to smartly allocate ram.

I mean lets not forget how innovative Samsung is that courts found then guilty in over 1 billion dollars worth of patent infringements. Lol.

First, I've had the all the iPhones from the begiining and LOVED them all. Recently, I wanted to see what all the hype was about and tried the Galaxy S3. Trying to get use to the Android system takes a lot of time and there are quiet a few hang ups. As for the operating system I would have to choose iOS but I also like the customization the Android allows. So it's really about personal preference and how technically savy you want to be involved with your phone. Now going to the physical technology...I have to give this to Samsung. I know people are going to say bull and this ad does exaggerate some but even then the new iPhone is just barely catching up in areas. Even on here most are saying no Apple is better...it's new camera is better. Really? I wouldn't buy a phone just for a better lense....go buy a camera. I also do find it funny how many on here are saying some of the Samsung apps are useless, but I'm pretty sure if Apple offered the same one's they would beconsidered "revolutionary". To be honest I love both phones it's just that I like different things about both. If these two companies were EVER were able to get past their own "greed" could anyone here imagine the phone that these two companies could put out together? As of right now, both have flaws and both companies are holding the market to a slow pace as they bicker and fight over bull. But thats business and that's what this ad is about.

Yeah expect with patent infringement the technology is right there. Court case for murder relies on finding the evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt

Yup I've told them that too. Quad core? As of right now there's no need for quad core. That just shows me how inefficient the OS is.

Agree with everything except the hardware comment. I don't see how apple is behind the technology loop? The products are engineered better. The screen is a beauty. Sure Samsung is larger but hardly call making a screen larger any technology break through.

Idk those are just my views. Other than that 100 percent agree. I wanted to see what the hype was and got myself an s3 and have it two weeks and just missed the steam line smoothness of iOS. For that IMO makes it better. At least for people like me

Fandroids say apple lacks innovation. So they come up with a plug that is different that has a purpose and some how Samsung is innovative for using the same plug as my first gen Motorola razor
