  • iPhone 5 Preorders Open at Midnight Tonight

    We are now less than ten hours away from the start of iPhone 5 preorders being taken online.

    Tonight at midnight (PST), Verizon and Sprint will allow customers to begin preordering the iPhone 5. Although Apple and AT&T haven't yet confirmed what time they will open their respective online stores for preorders, it is believed that midnight may also be "go time."

    If you want to skip out on the online feeding frenzy, Apple's retail stores will enable customers to preorder the iPhone 5 on site beginning at 8 a.m. Friday. The device itself will arrive in stores and at your doorstep (assuming you've ordered one) on September 21st.

    While it remains to be seen if Apple's iPhone 5 sales will blow sales of previous generation models out of the water, next week's launch will be the biggest in company history in terms of the initial geographic reach of the device.

    By the end of 2012, the iPhone 5 will be available in an estimated 100 countries.

      I'm gonna wait till the spring for refurbed one. My 4 is fine, hopefully AT&T will unlock it for me like others posted here.

      Anyone else find it lame that this new phone is still offered in a measly 16gb. Seriously? With such a low cost of ram, they should have made 32 64 and 128. 16 is just not enough for anything these days.

      theres always third party unlockers

      well i was gonna pre-order it but im not due for an upgrade until 10/28 so i guess i will just stick with my trusty old Iphone 4 until a jailbreak is released for the iphone 5 .........

      I hope they do. My 5.1.1 with old baseband works like crap. Always losing signal. 4.3.3 was solid. I'd also rather not pay a 3rd party. Too $$$

      yeah thats going to be a while
      in my opinion they will have to make a new podbreakout for the iphone 5 to get into the kernel and fuxx with it

      $9 is too expensive? I just unlocked my 4S still in contract for $9 yesterday on eBay. Not sure where you got the idea of expensive.

      dude, 2 days ago 4000+ unlocks were sold now its 5000+ lol
      they banking haha
      btw i think they raised the price now its almost close to $10 but its still fricken cheap!!! lol

      Yes. They unlock it and it stays that way. I really think it's AT&T in disguise selling unlocks cuz they quit unlocking the 4S's now

      Yeah. Exactly. Actually with using exclusively iTunes Match - no music on my iPhone or iPad - I never need more than 16GB. I am a jailbreak freak and have over 60 themes and widgets and almost every tweak imaginable and lots of photos (only keep last 6 months worth on my phone) - and I still have 3GB left on my 16GB. You only need a large memory iPhone/iPad if you have huge music libraries and photo libraries that you want ALL on your phone ALL the time. iTunes Match works and streams perfectly for me on an over 3000 song library. I keep EVERYTHING in the cloud.. and stream things to my phone. That's the wave of the future. I just try to live it now so I never need anything larger than a 16GB.

      A 'true factory unlock' will ALWAYS survive restores no matter how many times. It's only Gevey and Hacktivate, etc, from what I've read, that don't survive 'some' restores. This eBay $9 service we're talking about is a transmitting and true whitelisting of IMEI's directly to AT&T servers. Transmitted to APPLE and BAM! Unlocked forever.

      I'm not usually a person who believes in things that seem 'too good to be true' - but in this case it 'IS' true. They even sell 'wholesale' - if YOU want to run a business unlocking your friend's phones. You have to PREORDER a BLOCK of credits.. But if they're only $3 each and you buy 15 credits and sell them to friends for $25/each.. well.... You do the math...

      That's super awesome, doing mine now then

      I actually had a dude hit me up on craigslist offering the service for $30 an I was like no way dude you're just doing software unlocks, he swore that it was factory but I didn't believe him. Now I know, haha.

      lol naw, actually its people that has deals with carriers, i know another unlock service that does that but its expensive
      and/or they have a friend working at at&t doing the unlocks and sending them to apple database
