In May, MMi reported that Cricket Wireless was poised to become the nation's first prepaid wireless carrier to serve up the iPhone. On June 22nd, the touchscreen Apple smartphone subsequently launched with an unlimited plan costing $55-per-month.
Today we can confirmed that the new iPhone 5 will be added to the Cricket family later this month. According to the formal announcement today, Apple's refreshed smartphone will come to Cricket on September 28th.
For now, Cricket will only say that the new iPhone will initially be available in "select Cricket markets" (none revealed). Similarly, Cricket also didn't dish on pricing information or if preorders will be taken ahead of the device's hotly anticipated debut.
Considering the iPhone 5 is priced the same as the iPhone 4S on major carrier networks, it's likely the same will be true for Cricket.
